Hello everyone! My name is Seth and I'm from Latrobe, Pa, about 40 minutes outside of Pittsburgh. I am a machinist by trade, and pretend to be a welder. i used to own a WRX for a few years, then sold it to buy a pickup truck. I got bored with it and needed a new toy. I just recently picked up my 1993 Miata LE, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for this car. It was in rough shape when i picked it up. I've since got everything up to par and it drives great. Obviously the reason I'm here is to begin my journey of boosting it! I've been creeping the forums for a while now and figured it was time to join. Below are some picture of my car, I apologize ahead of time for the awful paint. Glad to finally be here!

Step one, engine swap.

Originally that wasn't in the plans, but from everything I've gathered so far I fear it might be the first step. The 1.6 in it now runs great, although introducing boost to a motor with already 152,xxx miles doesn't sit well with me. Hopefully I can find a used 1.8 in the area!

Welcome!

I MIGHT have a 1.8 for you... i wont know til i finish building the one im working on. The guy i bought this one from said the head MIGHT be toast.... and it costs too much to build a head, and i dont need it built for my goals. lol

Your car looks good!!! (by good, i mean condition of the body... lol)

What wheels and tires are on it?

Keith

Yes, I had to replace both front fenders, but now it looks decent. I was saving up for the megasquirt first, but if I can find a 1.8 to swap, I'll just do the Flyin Miata clutch happy meal while I have it out.

When I got it, it had diamond racing steelies that weighed a ton. I'm currently running XXR 527's 15x8 +0 offset and Kumho Ecsta tires 205/50/15

Welcome to the forum. Megasquirt is good. 1.8 is also good, but don't let them fool you. Plenty of people still run 1.6 engines.

You probably need to upgrade the rear differential first if it is still the 1.6 version. That is your most important modification at this point. They fail at stock power under normal conditions so don't do any clutch drops or anything silly like that.

Thank you! And yes that needs done as well. Still uncertain to swap to a 1.8, but since this current 1.6 won't last forever, I think ill end up just doing the swap. Regarding the diff, I've seen that plenty of times on here and know it's a must. As far as clutch drops or anything like that, I wouldn't dream of it right now. The clutch in it currently will need replaced soon. I have a lot of my plate to do and it's a bit overwhelming, sourcing parts around here isn't as easy as I expected either. But hopefully I can meet some locals and try and find these parts to get everything started. Thanks again!

Yeah, finding parts in this area isnt very easy... but you can get anything you could possibly need online if need be. Planet miata is an awesome source, but they are on the opposite end of the state. lol

Awesome! I know very few people around me with a Miata, so the more that chime in the better! Got any parts up for grabs? Haha.

And I've been doing a lot of research on the DIY PNP and I think that's the route I'm going to take.
