A little information about you, your location, and some pics of the car would be great.

Thanks for the pictures. It looks like it was cold there. Have you been to that track before or was that your first time?

sorry guys, too many pics to attach here. and, no vid this time, cuz i was too busy trying to not blow my shiate up. i was lucky to get away with just a split turbo coolant hose and a bit of a scare from seeing the resulting smoke cloud...

the rest of the car held up ok, i think. i ran only 0.5 bar of boost and my timing map is super retarded, even that was too much for my dunlop Z1 195s. will defo consider running better tyres next time.

Use the Tunerstudio autotune feature for fuel and set reasonable AFR targets. You should be fine.

Use the overboost protection feature. It can save your engine.

And take a look at what others here are using for spark timing. Don't use too much. If your dyno tuner usually tunes engines other than Miatas it is common for them to use too much timing. Our engines don't handle too much advance well.

Good luck.

Thanks Steve. my afr table is pretty much a copy of yours which you posted quite some time back iirc, and i let VEanal do its stuff based on it.

my current spark map is based on brain's, it works well on the street but knocklite (set to max sensitivity) shows mild knock ard 6-6.5k rpm in boost. not sure if it's real knock or not.

this is supposed to be a budget build, so i am not hiring a tuner to write the spark map. i am just gonna buy a couple of hours of dyno time and try to do it myself...

Brain's spark map is good and conservative. Just make sure your base timing is perfect at 10 degrees with the timing light and it should be good. Well, that is if your crankshaft pulley keyway is good and the balancer pulley marks haven't moved (which sometimes starts happening when the rubber parts between the inner and outer get old).

the only issue i have with a conservative spark map is getting the manifold and turbo too hot cuz retard...

yup, base timing should be good, i set it to 10degrees when the engine was rebuilt and havent touched the CAS since, and the crank pulley was brand new.
