Hi, I'm new here.

Hi, I'm new here.
Hi, my name is Jeff, and I am addicted to Turbo Miatas.
I have had many very cool cars since I worked way too many hours in high school to afford my s#!tpiece, and have participated in a wide variety of motorsports opportunities including road racing (Spec Miata), ice racing (studded and unstudded), autocross (anything from my 914 to a Previa), rallycross (Celica GT4, 323 GTX, Miata), enduros (Spec Miata, miscellanous others), field racing ($200 cars from local classifieds, good times), 24 hours of Lemons (86 Supra, team Buffalo Knuckles NE 2009), etc, etc.
Throughout all of this, one car shines as my clear favorite. It is a car I don't have any more, but will hopefully soon remedy that. It was a 1996 Mazda Miata with the early FMII kit.
I do have a turbo Miata project right now. I have had this car ~3 years now. It went into project mode 1/2way through last winter, and is close to emerging back into track/street surprise car. I hope it will be back on the road when the larger clutch master arrives this week w/ luck... I call it the 2.0T. It has an engine swap (SR20det). This winter's spending frenzy included 720 Nismo injectors, a GT2871RS, JWT tune, swain coating the manifold, dp and compressor housing, and a bunch of other silly things. Part of the festival of waste included the JWT flywheel/1200Kg clutch & Nismo slave cylinder, which have caused the puny Miata 5/8" clutch master to not displace enough fluid to fully disengage the clutch... This car could possibly double the other's hp, and is hyper unique, but I do miss the straightforward wonderful power curve of my FMII.
Anyone have one for sale? :-)
I have replied to some of the classifieds here, and was psyched to find another forum dedicated completely to turbo Miatas.
Who knew.
I recently sold my N/A NA winter Miata, which I had lovingly dubbed "winterbush", and am looking to super or turbocharge my winter with an already put together kit... (too many projects, (read open sores), already to introduce another project, --so it'd have to be daily driveable already.
--Not unreasonable, I daily drove my FMII year round in VT for ~3 years, (tear).
Please feel free to take a peek at my album I just threw together called, "some cars I paid sales tax on".
I appreciate: quality feedback, intelligent answers. This sort of stuff will cause me to recruit new members to this forum.
I don't appreciate: folks who respond w/ swears to someone who clearly just has an honest question. This sort of stuff will make me stick to the other forums where I've found respectful folks w/ an honest desire to share knowledge, and better the motoring community.
Happy Monday.
Jeff

Hey welcome to the forum. Looks like you have quite a bit of experience.
As for recruiting, we don't need more people that ask stupid questions. We need more people that read, and ask intelligent questions. If you know those kind of people, they will fit in very well here.

To the same ironic tune, I will now always be forced to remember this forum as the one where I took the time to upload some photos, detail some of my interests, write up a reasonable intro, and the very first response to my very first posting, was one where someone called me an assmunch, for praising the value of intelligence.

With all due respect, you have to admit that sounded pretty cocky.
I understand what you are trying to say, but that comes off as:
"You are lucky I have graced you with my presence, and if you don't treat me like I'm the best thing that could have happened to this place, then I won't save this poor forum by recruiting my buddies to come join me."
You are new, no one knows you. It was looking great until those last two comments on your first post. You don't need to announce your conditions for you to continue to return. To be honest no one here really cares. Stay and enjoy the vast knowledge this place has to offer, ignore the swears and "hollow comments". As far as turbocharging your Miata, you WILL NOT find a better place for knowledge, trust me you need this place more then it needs you No offense, the same goes for me and just about everyone except the gurus.

Welcome to you, sir.
And yes, the end of your first post did sound cocky. It is customary for people wait until their second post to sound cocky in this forum.
There is a wealth of knowledge and technical experience archived in this forum and a large group of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineers in our ranks. There are a couple of punk kids as well, but they don't last long. The vast majority are hands-on do-it-yourselfers that tinker with and manipulate everything they can think of.
It sounds like your background is commensurate with several others here. I hope you will find opportunities to both share and gain insight when you are with us. Some threads are deeply technical, some whimsical, and others philosophical. We are diverse and well-rounded in our discussions within this community. Some will interest you, and some will not. We welcome you to join in as you will.

Threatening? Ironically, I was just trying to devalue hollow comments such as these. For example, if someone said that to me, I would have responded with something like, "Exactly, somebody gets it; welcome aboard!".

btw, love the GT4. I had an ST165 for a while until it ate my wallet. perhaps you've heard of my suspension page for using inserts in the rear struts?

I don't know what happened there...
I don't know what happened there...
I got a new computer the other day, and I have been leaving it running because it goes into a sleep mode automatically...
Yesterday I awoke to the browser app being locked, and it somehow seems to have propagated the message several times.
I ended up end tasking it, and moving on. It wasn't until I got an email notification of the "wtf" posting, that I took a look back at the posting and realized that I'm probably going to be perceived as even more douchy now.
Thanks new computer! :-)
Thanks for all the warm welcomes guys.
When I wrote my intro, I had just gotten through throughly scrubbing the classifieds, where I had seen several instances of poorly directed and seemingly unjustified rage bubbling out as responses to what seemed like legitimate questions by those less knowing. I guess I was just a little put off by that.
On the flip side, I did see quite a few really nice projects that could only be done by someone well worthy of conversation & praise, ...
I look forward to my time here.
