Hello from Chicago
Hello everybody I have a 1992 Miata with a 1.6L with 60,000 miles that I purchased for my wife. Well I have speed bug and think this thing is way to slow in its stock form. So I am slowly getting it ready for boost. I have installed an upgraded brake kit from goodwin and a set of coil overs. Also had the timing belt done and an new FM clutch happy meal put in so now I just want a rollbar and then hopefully next year I plan on a turbo with a good engine management system like a Adaptronic or Hydra.
I have been lurking around for a while trying to learn a much as I can. I would like to purchase a second 1.6L and learn how to rebuild it and add some forged internals but my space is limited and knowledge as well. Does anyone know off hand what a basic Miata engine weighs. Was trying to figure out if I wanted to lug it up to my third floor condo unit or use some common area space in the basement and hope no one bitches about it.
Anyway I'm rambling

Thanks, I am in Oak Park around Madison and Harlem.
No Pics yet. It is red with the hardtop and a set of konig rims. I have it out in Round Lake at Protege Garage they are putting in the FM Clutch with 13.5 flywheel. I really should gets some pics. I really brought it back to life it was really faded for 60,000 miles I think the last owner had it sitting outside all winter.

Haha Chicago is so big it just keeps going. What burb are you in. I can step across a line in the road and be in the westside of Chicago thats my excuse for saying I'm located in Chicago.
I will let you know how the FM works out. I had them put in a Spec clutch but had a problem the next day with a spring getting loose on the clutch and causing quite a racket. It was a good excuse to just go with the 1.8 FM clutch happy meal. Its good up 318 tq far over what the spec was rated at and far higher then I think I would feel safe handling.

Schaumburg area. I guess I can't really say I live there either, at least right now. I am in the military, so I live where ever the Army tells me. But my home of record is in there, as well as family.

Finally some pics. Still no turbo hopefully next year. Upgraded to MSM 6 speed next will be a OS Giken LSD with 3.63 gears. Already have the gears just waiting on the LSD. Next build the engine or just throw on the turbo and build later if needed?

Hahaha Sweet Ride nice picture as well. I would believe it is the primer the way it fades if you don't keep up with it.
I am off to replace the cracked rear finish panel I just got a replacement.
Anyone interested in the Chicago Area in detailing your car and removing almost all cleaning and swirl marks let me know. I just purchased a Flex XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher and did a demo with one of the best detailers in the country. I have not had a chance to do the Miata yet but we detailed my friends Civic over the weekend and it is night and day difference. The flex is basically idiot proof really no worry of burning through paint like you were using a direct drive polisher.
