Stein 06-02-2009 04:03 PM

Damn, already have a name, photo, spec list, location, and a healthy turbo. Nothing to bitch about.:vash: You have obviously at least read a couple of the meet and greets.

Welcome to the forum! Car looks great!

18psi 06-02-2009 04:05 PM

Very nice. Welcome to the forum:)

TurboTim 06-02-2009 04:07 PM

Nice. Welcome.

The status of my seats is stock.

18psi 06-02-2009 04:17 PM

The status of his is "status" :D

TurboTim 06-02-2009 04:20 PM

He's cooler than me! Except for my intercooler, that's cooler than his. But my oil is hotter.

TheArkitekt 06-02-2009 04:24 PM

haha, thanks for the welcomes guys.

I would like to do a turbo upgrade at some point, i really would like to go twin scroll, but havent found a good manifold yet. Probably have a local shop near me build me one (shearer fab) since the work they have done in the past has been amazing. Probably couple that to a borg warner s2b turbo and see what happens. haha.

The status seats are amazing, very tight fit. and they just barely fit in the roadster.

TurboTim 06-02-2009 04:27 PM

All joking aside, it's a very nice car.

His profile isn't complete and no sig...

Seriously though, nice ride. Welcome!

TheArkitekt 06-02-2009 10:33 PM

I should have a sig now, ill work on that profile thing

JayL 06-02-2009 11:37 PM

Welcome, nice car. I see built motor, standalone, other shit, low dyno numbers.....turn that shit up and show us what it can do. :bigtu:

TheArkitekt 06-03-2009 09:44 AM

yeah, had some issues with the tranny, but i think those are resolved (read: new tranny) so im going to turn the boost up to like 18psi and see what happens lol

miatalover 06-03-2009 12:02 PM

18 psi sounds like a great goal. Good luck to your project. Let us know how it goes. All the best.

levnubhin 06-03-2009 12:24 PM

welcome, moar pics please.

Nice ride. Glad to have you on board.

+1 on pics. Have you got any side view pics?

BTW what's wrong with the hood alignment?

TheArkitekt 06-03-2009 10:27 PM

moar pics will be up soon! haha. my SLR broke and im waiting on a lens to get back from the shop.

as for the hood, the car was hit by a deer and the new hood was apparently aligned by morons! lol. it will be addressed very soon.

TheArkitekt 07-21-2009 01:54 PM

sorry all, i kinda dropped of the face of the planet for a while. here are some pics of the ride

Vashthestampede 07-21-2009 03:17 PM

Badass man! :bigtu: I really like the stance it has. Normally I'm not a fan of eyelids but they fit well in your scheme.

samnavy 07-21-2009 03:28 PM

Just curious, why not get wider tires? Is there any kind of performance advantage to stretched stuff, or is it strictly bling?

Could you also take a couple of regular plain pictures? I still can't tell what it looks like with all the retarded magazine cover angle-shots.

TheArkitekt 07-21-2009 03:34 PM

stretched tires is just for aesthetics and street use. completely useless for track/performance. Wider tires will be purchased soon for track use (probably 949 racing and hoosiers)

plain pics will be taken soon and posted :-P

sixshooter 07-21-2009 11:30 PM

I don't think oil coolers work when inverted. But your car is sharp looking.

TheArkitekt 07-22-2009 07:47 PM

i dont see why it wouldnt work. i mean for one my oil temps stay really stable, but also, shoudlnt the oil pump maintain pressure and circulate the oil? dont know how else an oil cooler would work...haha

Have you had the car on the track? There's not much you can do on the street to fluctuate oil temps enough times consistenly to build data. Guys run 300whp on the street with no oil cooling equipment and never have temps go up either. Half a lap on the track and the engine is toast.

I love the stance, needs less grenade.

I took the time to make a couple of diagrams for you regarding the oil cooler. When inverted, the air remains suspended within the top of the oil cooler and only a portion of the cooler will actually be functioning as desired.

Whether your oil is getting overheated or not has nothing to do with whether your oil cooler is functioning as designed. You might simply already have adequate oil cooling present without the additional cooler. (Damn, Sam beat me to it)

Note also that when positioned correctly, the oil will linger in the cooler passages longer and have more surface area exposed to cooling air. You might end up cooling the oil more than desired unless you are tracking the car with a big turbo. The factory oil cooler mounted on the oil filter adapter is excellent.

miataspeed2005 07-22-2009 11:16 PM

Engine pictures?

Efini~FC3S 07-22-2009 11:25 PM

Where is Pure tuning located? I'm in Ohio and I've seen their name before but aren't familiar with them.

TheArkitekt 07-23-2009 11:07 AM

sixshooter - thanks for the info, ill have to check that out.

efini - pure is located on secor rd in toledo, ohio.

RyanRaduechel 07-23-2009 04:40 PM

I agree with sixshooter...in our legends cars we have two, one is a small one mounted as sixshooter said with the fittings up top and the larger one, one that is square, is mounted 90* to how you guys have them, with the fittings on the side...then we run the inlet to the bottom fitting and it has to be pushed up through the cooler from the oil pump. instead of the other way where the oil would just enter the cooler and gravity would do the rest having it just fall down the cooler

TheArkitekt 07-23-2009 09:09 PM

ZOMG!!! two people on the internet have told me i need to change something, i best get to it and pass out some complimentary blow jobs as a thanks for saving my engine!

sorry guys, but track data doesnt lie. it works fine. before and after logs indicate a drop in oil temp after the install. I mean i suppose air could get in there, but since its below the pickup point and is a pressurized system im not too worried about air getting "trapped"

sixshooter 07-24-2009 08:45 AM

Just because you don't understand that there is a problem, doesn't mean that there isn't one.

http://dancleary.typepad.com/.a/6a00...373328a4-800wi

Track data doesn't lie? Yes using 1/3 of an oil cooler will cool your oil more than not using one. Just imagine how much better it will work when you use the whole cooler?

Two strangers with knowledge and experience try to offer to help you and you insult them?
I have a great distaste for ignorant arrogance. We were just trying to help you.

TheArkitekt 07-24-2009 09:15 AM

This is the internet pal. I have no idea of your experience level or knowledge, so am i supposed to just trust you at your "cool" signature quote, fancy avatar pic, and post count? for all i know youre a 16 year old kid that doesnt even own a car. so im sorry if im going to trust MY experience and the people i know in person about whats best for MY car.

I do honestly thank you for your input and lovely MSPaint drawings, and i may decide to test your theory some day when i have time. When I do ill be sure to post up results and data. If you happen to be right then ill apologize and well all live happily ever after in teh interwebs.

EDIT: I usually wouldn't pull that out, but since this thread has degraded from compliments and technical discussion to insults of senior members...

Who the fuck cares if the poster is 16...he backed up the argument with sound logic and TOOK THE FUCKING time to draw you a diagram.

btw...clean ass car, but could use less stickers. Guess we don't all have the same tastes. Most of us here do have a fucking clue how to mount an oil cooler though.

gospeed81 07-24-2009 02:33 PM

What I meant to say is:

Welcome to the forum.

Nice intro thread...well page 1 at least....and great looking car.

If you read around a bit, you will see most of us have pretty detailed threads of our builds, as well as plenty of racing experience. I don't have the opportunity to race, but I mention this to point out that we are generally VERY intolerant of mis-information on this site because that's what pisses us off(and obviously yourself as well) about most other sites.

That being said...gettin' lippy with those that are trying to HELP also makes our site suck. Now, for someone else reading this thread, YOU are providing the misinformation just by being a hardheaded dimwit. Again, we are intolerant on misinformation.

So in short:

GTFO*

* or change your stinkin' attitude

TheArkitekt 07-24-2009 02:46 PM

I'm more then willing to "gtfo" as it were

gospeed81 07-24-2009 02:51 PM

Big loss.

Really, wtf is your deal. You just flipped out when someone said there was something that could be better on your car.

That's the whole reason we mod and tune....to make things BETTER...screw good enough.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend everything I've done to my car couldn't possibly be improved. I'm an engineer (as are 25% of the regular posters here) and I still learn something daily.

Keep learning = go faster

Think you know it all and fuck everyone else = might as well drive a honduh

TheArkitekt 07-24-2009 03:02 PM

I'm not saying I know everything. I don't (yes hop on the bandwagon everyone). I just feel like my point is not getting across. I know nothing of anyones credibility. I've been a member here for what, a month? Would you take a total stra gers advice about something? I know I don't. I've already said I'm willi g to test this theory, and told you it will not make a change. I don't need your elitist attitude about what I should change. If I knew you I might take it to heart. But I don't so I'm going to question your posts. And I am an asshole, I know this.

jayc72 07-24-2009 03:15 PM

Your time here will be short. Just because you declare yourself an asshole doesn't mean anyone will give you any slack. YOU have zero credibility.

As to the oil cooler, the smart man would go out and try to verify the install and the theory behind it. The dumbass would get in an internet pissing match.

Bye bye.

TheArkitekt 07-24-2009 03:25 PM

Did i not just say I would try this? Lol. You guys are a bunch of retards

gospeed81 07-24-2009 03:25 PM

As with anything:

Trust, but verify.

I don't straight up trust anyone's advice, but I'll listen to it, let it stew, and then do my own research. That's really easy to do here with and "Advanced Search."

We're all assholes in case you didn't notice.

jayc72 07-24-2009 03:40 PM

I've already said I'm willi g to test this theory, and told you it will not make a change.
Who's the retard? You are going to go out and rearrange your oil cooler setup to test a theory you think is bullshit? A theory put forth by people you think are retarded, a theory in which you've done no research into at all? That is SMRT.

TheArkitekt 07-24-2009 03:40 PM

I don't mind verifying but as I'm sure is your problem as well. I can't just blink my eyes and change things. So as I've now stated multiple times. When I get the time and place to test this I will. Testing it on the street is a waste so next race I go to some r&d will be done

jayc72 07-24-2009 03:47 PM

The point isn't whether you test or not, but to dismiss the idea entirely because you don't trust the source of the information is foolish. Pretty easy to verify here on the intarweb with out having to re-do your oil cooler.

Actually the problem is your fucking attitude.

TheArkitekt 07-24-2009 08:07 PM

Yep duck my attitude! Thanks mom!
