Reality check on my build plans?

Hi all-
Finally ready to turbo the Miata.... can you guys fill me in on anything I might be overlooking?

Step one:
MSnS (MS1, 3.0) - kit from diyautotune, with boost control, ignition mods, etc.
Boomslang
LC-1 or JAW wideband & gauge

Step two:
BEGI-s1 (minus IC, FPR, add braided drain)

Step three:
Ebay IC & homemade exhaust

Step four:
More boost and a clutch (recommendations?)

A buddy and I are doing this in tandem, he has a 94M, mine's a 96M. Our cars are daily drivers and track toys; the power increase is desired for the track. I figure we'll do the electronics, get that sorted, then run non-IC low boost (4-5psi). In short order, we'll do the exhaust and IC, then up the boost until the clutch gives up. I already have a Godspeed radiator (are they still doing that group buy?) and oil temp gauge... otherwise, everything under hood is stock.

Primary goal is to not have to point people by anymore. Longer-term goal is 10#/hp or better, and becoming stupid fast.

Thanks for any feedback.

Main thing I would change with that plan is a clutch first....make sure your budget has room for plenty of $5 trips to the parts store as well.

Injectors? Oilcooler?

kyle242gt 09-16-2008 03:46 PM

Thanks for the reply-
when do the OEM 1.8L injectors max out?
what's a typical DIY oil cooler setup?

For injector stuff check these out:

Everyone has different ideas about the oilcooler. If you track the car it's important you have one. Do some searching and see what others have done, and find a solution you like.
