New to Miatas
Hi All,
My name is Hugo and I will be picking a 2000 Miata in a week or so. Long story short, my brother in law built the car and ever since I tried it, I've been wanting to buy the car from him. He recently moved out of the US due to work and told me to pick it up and give him some $ (to be discussed). Here are some pictures and the little I know about the car:
The engine was totally rebuilt with Eagle forged rods, Wiseco pistons, GT35 turbo, intercooler, 6 speed transmission was added, Adaptronics computer, Racing Beat full exhaust, 500ish injectors(can't remember the exact figure) and the head has been ported and has some other work done. I will be getting more details this week about the mods.

Don't drive it very hard without shielding the brake components or you'll be sorry. And it will overheat if you drive it hard with that gaping hole above the radiator.

Radiant heat travels in a straight line like sunlight. The exhaust manifold, turbine housing, and downpipe will actually glow red when the engine is under a load. Anything within the line of sight will get cooked. The plastic brake reservoir will melt, suddenly leaving you without brakes. The brake fluid can boil, leaving you without brakes. The throttle cable can melt leaving you without throttle or with ALLOFIT which can be mildly interesting. The heat can also make the rubber water hoses fail.
A simple barrier of any kind will help. It's like the difference between standing in the direct sun or being under a shade tree.
The factory uses heat shields and you are making a lot more heat than factory because you are making more power than factory.

Yes, the car is in Albuquerque. He is currently in Italy so he doesn't have his phone anymore. It was left to me to either keep it if I want it or sell it. I will be flying to NM the 27th to pick it up. I will be driving it to Kansas were I currently reside but not before shielding them brake components. Scary!

Well, I finally picked it up. I drove from New Mexico to Kansas yesterday and it was a blast. I can see why people say they are fun. The car ran flawlessly and today I gave it a little elbow grease as it had been sitting for about 2 months.
Sadly, I must sell it as I have something else occupying the garage, hard decision!

That valve cover looks dope!
But I would say keep it and build up the rx7 slowly

Correction: the turbo is a GT2560r.
Update: I took the car to correct an oil leak to Jesse Prather in Topeka and I ask him to run it on the dyno to make sure everything looked good. He called me back and informed me the car was running really good and dropped the numbers.....279whp! I had guess 275 and told him before hand, not to shabby!

Yeah I'm surprised the guy couldn't hear the engine pinging with how lean you were at peak power.
That is a very clean car from the pictures, jealous of the paint. An easy way with no work yourself to shield the brake components is the FM heatshield. Not very pricy and fits a Garrett setup pretty easily.
Also, seal up that radiator before you overheat your car your first trackday/autox.
