Salutations from the Great White North

Thought I'd better introduce myself, since I've started to make a few posts on this board. I've been a Miata owner since the spring of '94, when I bought my '93 L.E. brand new to replace a Golf 2.0l16V that was broken into one night and then stolen the next. After a few years of ownership, I was on a drive through the mountains with my local club, labouring against an 80-100 km/h headwind and barely able to maintain the speed limit. A member from another club had a supercharger and took great glee in passing us at will. At that time, between gritted teeth, I swore I'd add some adnormal aspiration to my otherwise wonderful car.

I started (along with a fellow Miataphile) with a basic Greddy turbo, which was great fun until my pal cheated and upgraded to a used FM kit. He proceeded to blow my doors off in 5th gear (I was in 3rd), so the inevitable upgrade path beckoned. I added a large Spearco intercooler, 250 cc/min injectors, a BEGI AFPR plus J&S knock sensor and turned up the wick. At 12 psi, I dynoed at somewhere over 200 rwhp. Later on, I added a Link and bigger injectors. This provided ample fun, but of course my younger brother added an FMII to his '97 and I immediately lusted after the low-end torque afforded by more dispacement. Damn!

I was really hoping that Mazda was going to release a Mazdaspeed version of the NC, as I thought the MS6/3 motor in a lighter body would satisfy my thirst for thrust. When it became apparent that it was not to be, I decided to create my own. Since I don't have the time to tinker that I used to, I made a wish list, consulted the Flyin' Miata catalogue and placed my order. After a 6 month wait, I drove down to Colorado, flew home, waited some more, flew back and then drove my dream machine 1,350 miles home.

In the meantime, winter intervened, so I haven't gotten nearly as much seat time as I'd like. I'm sure I'll have more to report in the spring. Below are some links to my impressions:

Welcome aboard Steven. I'm dying to see this beast in action. I'm sure there will be a lot of muscle car owners in Edmonton with shocked expressions on their faces this summer!
