Default Another noob hello

Just joined after finding out I am getting back the 95 begi-S turbo i bought for my stepson who has enjoyed but is moving on. He is not much into wrenching so I traded my v70 X country for the miata. 1 st order of business will be paint job and new top. But even higher priority and what I would like the learned opinion of the respected members here, in light of the fact it has sat for months without starting, should I let him try to start it and drive it 250 miles or go pick it up, with the idea of draining the old gas and whatever else needs to be done to safely get it back Running. Thanks.

How long has it sat without running? If less than 6 months I would put a trickle charger on the battery over night, and fire it up without worrying too much. If longer than that new gas and change the oil as well as charging the battery.

Welcome to the forums!

Keith

Sounds like a good idea. You haven't posted enough info for us to give you our humble and bipartisan opinions on.

If you are pretty mechanical then I'd just go pick it up. No sense on getting someone that doesn't wrench to give you good info over the phone.

I know you will hear it again and again... When you can, ditch that stock ECU for a diyPnP and injectors, up the boost and win!

I am sure that 5psi is fine, but once you can safely go higher why not?

I'm gonna post a build/upgrade thread where I'll get ur opinions on tires, brakes, and suspension. Plus I need a roll bar. I'm currently running 185/60 tires on stock (the good ones) 9 lb rims, good for stock power and even for 5 lbs boost but its fast enough to get my old heart rate up. I think I need handling and braking first but I def want to ad an intercooler, ECU, and tune for 180 rwhp.
