Swedish Miata

Hello!

Bought my first miata a couple weeks ago, such a happy little car.

Amazing to drive, even though its pretty much stock.

Here are some Pictures of it:

Stainless Steel headers
Stainless Steel catback
Overfenders
15" Steelies
Nankang NS-2R 195-50 (cheap R-tyres)
Hardtop
Rollbar
Custom made shiftknob

Has some other goodies to it also.

Concidering a turbo next year :)

J3n5 08-13-2015 08:31 PM

Also here is some Pictures of my Daily, since the miata will be my summercar

Golf VR6 4MOTION 2000

204hp but alot less fun to drive than the Miata

Sorry for my bad English =)

Welcome, J3n5. Check out the Miata Gallery and post up some pics!

Welcome to the forum. That's a very clean car.

Not the way I'd build it (either one) but it sure looks clean.

Thanks for the input and welcome guys!

Forgot the more essential part of the introduction - Who I am :D

I'm a Swedish fella as the titles says.
24 y/o
Currently working as a hairdresser
Living with my boyfriend...

Just kidding :DD

The first and foremost reason why I joined MT is because I wanted to join a forum with alot of crazy builds towards turbocharging the Miatas. I cant imagine how insanely fun a 200+hp one would feel.

My goal is one day to turbo my NA. I want to keep the overall track/stance look of it now. Just repainting the hardtop and overfenders this Winter and getting rid of the chrome stuff.

You will soon see me posting in the forums, just gotta search alot and see if my questions allready has been answered.

Nice to meet you!

Parts ordered

Update.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...9d37f0733a.jpg

I have now ordered some parts and recieved some of the turbokit parts.

Revent/Sturovo Manifold, Downpipe and Intercoolerkit.
Flyin' Miata Stage 1 Clutch kit with Lightened flywheel.
BMW vTPS (since I have the 1.6)
1.8 Torsen type 2 complete swap with driveshafts
1.8 complete brake kit. (with brakebooster and main brake cylinder)
Garret GT2554r
Yellow RX8 injectors (flowtested at 3bar 460cc)
Deatchwerks 200pump
Motorsport Electronics ME221 ecu. (more or less same as Megasquirt, one of the advantages is that the same ecu works for the 1.6 as the 1.8)
Stiffer Rubberbushings in differential and Engine mounts.
Innovative MTX-L
Some type of boostgauge, havent ordered yet.

Might have forgotten something while typing this.

Any input is welcome!

Thanks

sixshooter 01-05-2017 01:01 PM

All of that should work pretty well. Good luck.

Thanks! Did alot of reading Before I chose these parts. Seems like the proper way without skipping out on parts. 1.8 swap when the 1.6 goes out. Yes, when.

Only thing I can Think of adding to the list is doing Coil on Plugs. Need to read some more about that before I can decide. Will stock ignition able to handle 200whp? (bkr7e plug)

DNMakinson 01-05-2017 02:28 PM

Stock ignition is OK. Might have to go with smaller gap. Stock fuel pump is OK.

That ECU is un-proven, from what I can tell.

Some people have had issues with MTX-L and would suggest the AEM UEGO. Some people suggest adding noise suppression with the AEM, but fixes are documented.
I use an LC-2.

Thanks for the input :)

Im mainly just upgrading the fuel pump for being 25yrs old and dont want it to go out

The ECU is mostly used in the UK. Seems like a more and more common ecu over there. They also have good support from which a friend has first hand experience with. The ecu is also newer and they say to be less buggy than the MS2PNP. They also sell a vTPS adapter plate with the kit. Tuning will not be any different than on a MS2PNP, there are some videos on the youtube on loading up basemaps etc.

Regarding the MTX-L I have not read any issues about it, what kind of issues have you heard of? I will take a second look into buying MTX-L vs AEM UEGO.

Looked for the thread, but I cannot find it.

A friend of mine runs an ME221. His first one was faulty, but he was quickly given a replacement one. Their tuning support is a big advantage over Megasquirt. My MS3-PRO took many weeks of reading and researching. Being able to handle Megasquirt yourself does make you proud for sure and makes you forget all those frustrating nights.

Made me happy about pulling the engine.

Diff mounts seems to be soggy so Im glad I bought harder rubber ones.

Just a small update whilst under the influence of whisky

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but keep an eye on/replace your radiator. When they turn yellow/green they're ready to pop.

Ye, I bought a new radiator now, its in. :)

Im in the progress of changing the seals in the Engine now. (CAS, camshafts, rear main and front main, cursed waterplug etc)
I also have sandblasted some of the pulleys, hard waterlines and other miscellanious rusty parts. Painted them black in a heatcolour.
Also painted the valvecover in wrinkle red.

Still waiting for the revent turbokit that was orderd in october. Last week I got a message from him that its nearly finished now.

Fingers crossed.

Pictures coming soon!

I vote we change this thread title to "Swedish House Miata"!

J3n5 11-25-2017 03:43 PM

Since I never recieved my Turbokit from Revent during 2017 (as many others neither did), I will get a new take on the turbobuild during 2018.

Car is now up and running fine, Everything went smooth and feels great. I do need a new set of coilovers though since mine are way too bouncy.

Loving the feel of the torsen diff and the Flyin Miata clutch kit.
