Time to de-noob myself

Hello all,

My name is Cooper and I am from the Los Angeles area. I am currently a full time student (I have about a year and a half until my bachelor degree) and I work part time at Starbucks (lol white girl). A few months ago I ended up selling my Nissan 240sx project due to it being a shitbox and living in an apartment life got complicated. However the time is now and it is time to start looking for a daily that I can go stupid with. I plan on looking for a 2001+ NB and hopefully a hardtop. I am excited to join the community and meet everyone here.

Cheers!

Welcome.

Don't bring your 240sx nonsense in here.

Welcome to the forum. So you are searching for a daily driver? I can tell you that you don't want to try to turbocharge it until you've got a good place to work on it and a decent source of regular income. But welcome to the forum. Hopefully when you reach the point where you've got a steady flow of income you will have the knowledge base to spend efficiently.

Or you could disregard this advice. For the first year that I had my car, I worked on it in a 20 foot shipping container in a mini storage in San Francisco. Suboptimal? yes. Impossible? no.

Now that's dedication.

Exactly! You nailed it on the head. Excited to see what I will learn!

Hello.

I also built my first motor in a storage unit while in school. After a day of research an experiments, I'd decompress and do some assembly. To echo the above recommendation; if you find a car, keep the car stock as hell until after you finish academia. Then with adulting job, you can afford more quality parts, all the while peruse the forum and learn everything there is to know.

Lot of info, and a lot has changed in the past couple years.

There's a short list of products/vendors to avoid. You'll find them soon.

Curious about your forum name... How do you feel about salt pork? (trust me, if you get the reference you will get the reference)

Were you next to the guy in all the movies that has his shipping container full of guns? I thought that was just a trope until I read your post.

Pretty sure a couple of them were occupied as residences. Entirely possible there was one of these, but I didn't get a chance to spy in on it.

Well everyone as an update I did it! A couple weeks ago I ended up picking her up. She is a 2003 SE with 139k, all recorded maintenance, every receipt, and lots of replaced parts. As of last week I received my OEM undertray I ordered and also a new lip (will sell my Tupperware kit lol). Super excited, she is my daily and I plan to do xidas, a hardtop, 15x10 6uls, and some extra goodies.

-Cheers!

Looks good! It'll look great with an intercooler ;)

supnamescoop 01-24-2018 09:57 PM

Oh I 100% agree :bigtu: , after she is all set up I plan on looking into the MKTurbo set up and also the EFR kit....

The temptation for boost is all around me lol. It is like the dark side is calling me

Lexzar 01-25-2018 11:19 AM

I may be increasing this desire for boost. :burncash: :burncash: :burncash:

MKTurbo if you plan on staying with a stock motor. EFR if you want to blow all your money.

Happy Wednesday everyone,

Well this weekend was a success, my friend and I got the xidas on and they feel fantastic. Next plans are to remove the tupperware kit and install my new front lip. Did some rethinking about wheel set up and think that sense the car is a street car with light track use i will be looking into some Advanti Storm s1's in 15x8. So ya that is where I am at and I am happy to share it with all of you. The car feels great and I am ready for some driving. Will keep everyone updated until next time.

Cheers!
