Default New NB owner from Raleigh

Hello all. My name is Jay. I'm new to the Miata community. Introducing the newest member of the family. My new to me 1999 Mazda Miata. Her name is Willow as she will be painted white in the near future. I got a hell of a deal for her considering what came with the car and what I paid. She has the hard dog roll over bar, KYB AGX up front and Koni orange out rear, lowered on H&R spring, XXR 527s wrapped in new Nitto Neo Gen tires, a Jackson Racing supercharger, Jackson Racing boost timing controller, Power Card fmu, boost gauge and AEM wideband. Needless to say she is fun to drive with the top down. I've had her for a couple days now and the only thing I've done was add a pokeball shift **** lol. In the process of stripping the dip now. The body needs a little love but overall I love her! Introducing Willow!!

Looks 1000000000x better without the black wrap. I assume your going to smooth out the hack fender right?

Hope you got her for a dirt cheap. Maybe the cash can go towards overfenders and a new bumper? I think that would go a long way. What's the rust situation looking like?

Done! It looks way better with out the dip. The original paint needs some attention but that's no bother seeing as how it will be changed anyways. But the front bumper, rear bumper and hood will be replaced and the this Friday I'm going to have the hacked fender straightened as much as possible and put on some over fenders. Some new seats and maybe a new steering wheel oh and some dyno time once I intercooler it. I'd like to know that kind of power she is making.

Man, I saw that thing on craigslist (IIRC it was listed at 3k, not sure what you got it for) and considered going to get it, but it was super rough looking. Still for that price and what's on it, it wasn't a bad deal.

I bet the flares and a new hood will make a huge improvement.

What did you use to strip the plastidip off without messing up the paint?

What part of Raleigh are you in? I'm over in Cary with a green turbo '00. Any plans to auto-x/rally-x by any chance?

Yikes, I thought my car had rough paint. I hope you didn't pay much for it. Still, looks don't mean **** when you're driving with a smile on!

Welcome!

Yeah Kevin this is the same car you saw. I got her for $2,700. For that price there were a few miatas that were in better condition but for all that the car came with, cosmetics aside it was a good deal. The body work will be taken care of in the coming months. It has some rust but nothing a little cutting and welding and repainting won't fix lol.

Mr. Bugelsworth I'm ordering the flares on Friday. I plans in replacing both bumper covers and the hood. I used 3 cans of WD-40 and hours of elbow grease lol. But the effort was worth it. I'm right down the street from the fair grounds behind REX hospital. We should meet up at so point! I'd like to try my hand at auto-x and see how the car and I perform together.

Well viperormiata I was told the hood meet with a dear. I already had the car in the air and found nothing to cause concern. The fenders idk bUT shall be taken care of.

Thumpetto I giggle a little everyone the supercharger starts to whine. I try not to beat on it. I have a little fun from time to time but the smile is huge on my face every time I get out of it. Thank you!!

I'm covered mgeoffeiau lol.

Eh, if you can do the body work it's alright, but damn it needs a lot. It appears to have 01-05 style lights in the 99-00 bumper so it doesn't fit. So once you replace the quarters, the whole front clip, and paint it, it'll be great...

Hey, if you're having fun, who cares, right?

Is that the Lowe's off Glenwood and Lynn?
Also, you need to check THSCC.com for local Track days and Autocross.
Hell, with your beat paint you could Rallycross.

Haha haha yes it is lol. That's a great guess. Hell I didn't know it existed till last night lol. I'll definitely check out that site for auto-x. Don't think I'll do rally-x I cringe at the sight of speed bumps lol
