Default 10 years of lurking, first post... new reccord?

HI everyone,
I am a refugee from the Mazda-Speed forum. I have has this account (same user name on miata.net and mazda-speed) so long that I almost forgot about it. Just been lurking here, like a creep in the bushes, reading all your posts for the last decade or so.

Time to finally ask for help on a MegaSquirt project.

I am working on a 2004 MSM with 150k miles I picked up for a price that was worth the headache. It needed EVERYTHING. After a headgasket and turbo rebuild the rings let go (yay James bond smoke screen) I knew it would happen after seeing pits in the cylinder walls and 120psi compression. So I am doing a budget rebuild with ebay rods, oversized coated cast pistons (I am happy with 200-250hp) and Mahle/OEM parts. I am known among friends for crazy *** projects. I work on airplanes for a living if anyone cares.

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located? You didn't say and there is no location under your screen name in your profile.

Good luck with the project.

Shell looks good and you already have a stronger trans and diff in there, so that's good!

Have you looked at the manley rods on 949 racing? They're ~100 bucks more than the ebay rods I've seen if you're looking at the cxracing bit. If you're going into the engine, you might as well go for the better ones for the peace of mind for when you want to start upping the power. It'll happen sooner than you think from what everyone here says!

Are you planning to stick with the MSM manifold, turbo, etc?

Looking forward to seeing your build!
