What up bronies

I haven't been here in a while. Life, kids, stuff. I still have the 10AE-T, but don't get to use it much between family and getting into W2W racing. I have acquired many turbos and 2 cats. I'm DD'ing a mazdaspeed3 for various reasons, like my kid's carseat doesn't fit in the Miata with the top up.

Where the OG's at?

concealer404 07-06-2018 11:28 AM

I'm not OG, but i'm in your sig, so suck it, i'm here!

Ben 07-06-2018 11:52 AM

2011 seems pretty OG to me.

I've literally been on this forum since I was 17. I'm 29 now. So oldschool that I still have a 1st gen MSPNP :giggle:

Pics of your mazdaspeed 3? How do you like it? Was considering picking one up for a touring car, what do you think?

Hey! Long time no see! Welcome back!

emilio700 07-06-2018 12:44 PM

Welcome back. You don't have to own a Miata to be a Miata geek

I think I own 3, including my turbo car. And an Exocet. And a BG 323 road race car. And a Mazdaspeed3 to round out my Mazda collection.

It is an ok car, not really fantastic at any single thing, but is good or good enough at most things. Mine has all the normal bolt ons. It makes reasonable power, has a reasonably sized cargo area for DD things, and a car seat fits in it without problem. It has a lot of torque steer. Brakes are really good. It makes good turbo noises. Handling is surprisingly good for fwd. I get 24 mpg or so. It's cheaper to DD than my truck and has better cargo carrying than a miata.

A couple things drive me nuts. The auto wipers sweep once every time you key on, so you can't just leave them on. The auto wipers are not tied into the auto headlamps, so you have to turn the lights on if it rains during the day. The instrument backlight dimming is strange, there are 2 dimmers. It really does torque steer a lot.

I thought it might be equally fun to a Euro car but without the surprise electrical problems that come with them. So far, I am happy. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1b28688912.jpg

Nice lookin' car, Ben. OGs represent. BTW, the only reason I have not come to see your 10AE is because, well. I would buy it. #noragrets

Love the MS3. Thinking it would be a perfect highway/out of town car.

I'm currently DDing a '88 BF GTX, so you gotta elaborate on your BG 323 road race car! Loving the 323 chassis.

Lurking is right! Where have you been?

Yo. Fireinc made me think. 33 now, joined when I was 20, yikes. I think I even had a user name before curly that I never posted under, can’t remember, cause, 13 years.

Living in Chicago (the city, not the 'burbs). I actually own a car again (finally). Bone-stock '04 NB with more wear-and-tear on it than Hustler's anus.

I'm occasionally envious of you suburban folk with your big garages...

Braineack is still here, of course. You can typically find him shouting Ayn Rand quotes at windmills in the Politics thread.

rleete 07-07-2018 10:13 AM

Wow, I've been here for longer than Sixshooter.

I don't consider myself on of the OG, though.

The speed isn't a bad commuter. It has to be driven with some mechanical empathy due to super knock (DI) and weak rod concerns. It will make 20 psi real easy though, and that's cool.

The w2w car is a BG with the 1.8, protege subframes, MX3 control arms in the front and escort in the back, and the typical stuff that people do to the BG chassis cars. It's tuned out on a MS3Pro PNP, same ECU as 90-93 Miata, with a couple of internal jumpers moved. Car is set up for Endurance racing. I was actually looking for an MX3 when this showed up on craigslist and figured "eh, close enough."

So the 62 thing is a ruse?

For me, 63 is a reality.

Ben, we're obvs on facebook debating politics.

My neighbor has a miata. I can touch it if I want to. I just threw away my stock midpipe and spare tire this week. Still have the factory jack though.

I tend to lean a little more right than you, but I don't get this Ecuador thing, either.
