Up until a few years ago, I was an active autocrosser. My '91 miata has a FM3 turbo system with a Garrett T28 sleeve bearing turbo, 0.49 A/R turbine and 0.48 A/R compressor (system is for sale, btw). I think the slightly lower A/R lent itself to wanting to spool up quickly. Lag has never been a problem for it, not even for autocrossing. Modulating the throttle to deliver the right amount of power to the tires takes a little experience but it's not a problem. In our relatively small region, we had at one point a fairly large SM2 crowd with mostly turbo miatas. It wasn't uncommon to have 5-6 turbo miatas and a couple RX7's competing in that class at an event, all running very close times.

Good luck w/ the car and getting it ready to autocross. Have fun and welcome to the forum. I'm new here too.
