Is your location accurate? mega business travel, or just coincidence that you were down here so recently?
Mega business travel. In a typical year, I spend more time on the road than I do at home. My homebase is in Carlsbad, though I'm rarely there.

After thinking about it and looking around I think I'll heed your advice and go with one of the Garretts. Mainly because there are a ton of good deals on used ones that pop up from time to time (one for a 2554 up right now).
That's basically my primary reason for suggesting them. Yes, there are "better" turbos out there, but the Garret T25/28 series are so common that there is a vastly greater selection of parts and assemblies, a huge knowledge base, etc. If you start with a GT2554 and then decide you want something bigger down the road, you can swap in a GT2560 or even a GT28 without having to change anything else. You have to be a little bit careful as there are some GT series turbos with unusual flanges out there (particularly the OEM Nissan units) but it's easy to tell them apart.
