1.8 99 nb MS parallel wiring

Hi,

I am trying to wire mymegasquirt as a parallel install.

My ignition is wired to fire 1&4 then 2&3.

However, My injector at the moment is wired 1&4 then 2&3. According to the megamanual diagrams it should be 1&2 then 3&4. I have seen another diagram that said it should be 1&3 then 2&4. What setup is best or the correct setup for the MS1 +MS2 for my car.

By the way what do you think of this??

V4 ECU | V4 Engine Management System | M-Tech

its a professionally developed MS2.

Regards

Van

This is what your are looking for:
I ran this on my '99, it fires 1&3, and 2&4. Enjoy.

Thanks for the reply.

I have that diagram. I also have another 2 diagrams for the 99 NB which confused me.
I noticed your setup looks quite awesome!! How many bhp is it outputting?

Are you now MS-II RUNNING WITH AbeFM PNP BOARD? is that just a PNP board so you dont need to wire a parallel loom?

Any advantages there? Does that mean you can do away with the Stock ECU?

Yes it is just a PNP board, no loom required. I have no idea how much HP it puts out, as I am still running my stock injectors with 7psi. I'm guessing that if I swap my 460's in there and take the boost up, maybe I'd put out about 230 whp at 14psi? All I can say is I ran MS-1 in parallel before, and it was pretty user friendly, but it ran rough. MS-II is a bit more advanced, but it runs soooo smooth.
The PNP board does do away with the stock ECU. Go into the Megasquirt section and read up on "AbeFM's PNP adapter board".

Does it take advantage of all the sensors? like knock etc? Do you know how much Abe sells it for? isnt it just worth it just to buy the DIY PNP board?

That's what I used posted by Zaphoid on here, it'll help out im sure.

Tinker: Yeah, check out my other thread, the first post or two tells you about it.

It does use stock knock sensor, and retains cruise control, AC, alternator, and all the rest, so you can completely remove your OEM ecu. I did this after fighting the parallel install way way too long.

Thanks for the reply ABEFM.

All I want is connect the MS2 to my 99 NB. I live in the UK I got the connectors to make the parrallel cable. I just need to know how to wire the Stock crank sensor to the MS is it the same way as the VR?

How much do you sell the board for? is it designed specially for the 99NB?

AbeFM 12-11-2009 01:29 PM

Yes, pretty much - there's apparently (on the 1.6 2000's) an antitheft pin, I can check around and figure out if there's anything you have to do, but it's just moving one wire.

The link in the top of the thread tells the circuit you would have to make to put it in your car, check out the great AC faq to find the circuit for the AC, jason's thread (or mine) for a couple ways to tackle the AC problem, it can be done stand alone - the board is really just to make it easier and more reliable.

That said, I get $100 (US) + shipping + paypal fees (4% I think) for a kit which has everything you need, building it is no harder than building a MS. I don't really want to build them, and I think you'll understand the system better if you build it yourself, but I can and have assembled them if required - and I charge for that as well to discourage it. That said, internet tech support is free and believe me, people have been taking advantage of this. :-)

Most people have been making a cable to go between the two cards, which I'm not a fan of. It has worked well for two people, and another one messed up his cable and his car didn't run - but I fixed it for him so he should be up soon. Another guy plugged it in directly, but kept fouling plugs because his engine has no rings. :-P

PM me if you want more info. If you have everything for making a piggy, you can extend the stock harness and mount the computer and adaptercard behind teh glovebox, and give yourself a lot more foot room. I'll try to get a pic of that set up next week.

Hi Abe,

That information would be great cheers. I would love to see how it fits.
