1994 Miata megasquirt basemap resulting in running too rich and high idles

So i have a problem. I have a 1994 Miata. All that is done to it is an IAT Delete and an AFR gauge. I ran the base map from megasquirt, set the settings to the IAT delete and proper AFR gauge, and it idled too high, around 2k, the car ran super rich, like we're talking 8 on the AFR gauge. I went ahead and enabled sequential injection as well as running VE Analyze and it is running at about 12 on the AFR gauge and my idle went down to like 1200.

The ECU Is not communicating with my wideband so Im going to assume something is fucky there?

I just want my car to run as it was stock. I can provide my tune along with my data log

The base map you can download is really only there to get the engine to start. From there you need to put in the work to actually tune it to a sensible state.

With a wideband O2 sensor and just a gauge (not connected to ECU) you can still tune it, but you can obviously never run closed-loop fuel. Also tuning will probably be a lot easier if you can have the ECU log and graph AFR together with everything else as well as properly use the VE Analyze thing, so first order of business should be to hook that up.

Okay, so I did hook it up, but I still need to adjust it so that the ECU is getting the proper AFR level. Let me play with it a bit more and then report back
