3800 rpm haywire

Got the miata running again after being down for new everything. Got it out for its new tune and i have one of the problems i was suffering from ever since i turbo'd the car. it started up un noticeable and has gotton worse and worse. i am getting a big time sensor issue at 3800 rpm and only at this rpm. as long as i am out of boost or not getting on it hard i can go right thru the rev range fine, but when i am at 5 inches of merc or in any boost it bucks like a mother fucker. after looking at the datalogs right at that rpm on my tuning pulls it shows huuuuge fluxuation in the coolant temp sensor going to straight cold to full hot wildly and same with my intake air temp sensor and now its moving into my map sensor showing some changes too. and my injector pulse width is going thru the roof too. its only at 3800 rpm under load. i am thinking something is throwing some rf but i am not sure, any ideas on this?

(shows up at the coolant temp sensor first, then the injectors, then the iat and then the map)

Have you got a knock sensor connected to the CLT line?

mxv 04-15-2008 10:05 PM

no knock sensor

timk 04-15-2008 10:36 PM

The RF is coming from the Civic.

See my recent thread entitled "GODDAMNMOTHERFUCKINGSHIT". It addresses exactly this problem.

Put your MSQ and a datalog or two into a zip file and post it so we can see.

Braineack 04-16-2008 09:17 AM

+1, we need sometime to work with; however, $10 says it's overboost protection.

mxv 04-16-2008 08:10 PM

alright, i am getting my tuner to email me some of the pulls. ill have those up either tonight or tomorrow. i can boost on it fine as long as its not at that rpm.

richard_ha 04-16-2008 08:23 PM

That rpm will be when you are generating the most boost though

mxv 04-16-2008 08:38 PM

it does it even when not in boost at that rpm too though.

Braineack 04-16-2008 09:16 PM

upload your msq as a zipped attachment.....then go out and take some datalogs and recreate it, then upload those. 5 minute investment for free help.

mxv 04-16-2008 09:24 PM

working on it. ill have them tomorrow probably.

sorry they are just screen shots, i can get the full log files if you guys need.

Joe Perez 05-01-2008 06:16 PM

Full logs, and an MSQ, would be helpful.

So would an explanation of your TPS reading. Granted, the RPM and MAP look funky as hell, but the TPS just looks downright impossible.

mxv 05-01-2008 08:47 PM

tps wasnt plugged in. ill try to get the files up.

Braineack 05-02-2008 09:37 AM

just by looking at it i bet accel enrichments are on and kicking in prematurely, but we need the log posted so we can look at it all ourselves.

Joe Perez 05-02-2008 12:07 PM

The flutter in the RPM signal is what bothers me. Not sure if it's the cause or a symptom, but something ain't right about that. MAP and PW can go all to hell and back without violating any laws of physics, but RPM just can't do what the log says it's doing.

The timescale is just too damn wide in that screenshot to see any detail.

mxv 05-02-2008 09:28 PM

thanks guys, my tuner has been really busy lately so sorry for the slow updates but I WILL get those msq's files up for you guys. thanks again.
