550 injectors

where can I get a good deal on a set that don't need service?

thanks.

cjernigan 05-01-2007 09:32 PM

rx7club.com
user: japan2la
Price: $100 plus shipping though they will need service.
How much do you want to spend?

whatever it takes to get the job done right, the first time, and I'd like to just plug those whores in and go.

Braineack 05-01-2007 09:35 PM

I posted a WTB over there and had 4-5 PMs in a day.

Those guys are always upgrading their secondaries, i got mine cheaper than $100 and in better shape than what I expected. I bet you could get a set for $80 shipped by posting a WTB and cleaning is around $64 after shipping. I had to buy new lower grommets which were $2 a piece as well, not sure if witchhunter includes them or not, i know they change everything else out.

cjernigan 05-01-2007 09:40 PM

You kill me man.
Out of Brains FAQ. Just copy and paste this into your WTB ad.
89-91 RX-7 TURBO 550cc - purple top #195500-2020
Which are high impedance

thanks dude. I'm sure I'll fuck it up if I don't get someone to spoon feed it to me.

cjernigan 05-01-2007 09:51 PM

Just make sure you wear a bib next time or you might come out with a pearl necklace.

Ben 05-01-2007 10:00 PM

I have 2 freshly serviced injectors in the classifieds.

Savington 05-01-2007 11:04 PM

I got my 460ccs on an Rx7 forum for $75 shipped. They needed service, but it's only $70 including shipping.

miatamania 05-02-2007 12:28 AM

servicing yourself is nice because you KNOW they were serviced.

SamS 05-02-2007 12:30 AM

Servicing yourself sure is nice.:gay:

But making sure someone else does it is kinda nice also :dancegay:

I got my second set of 460's (2010) from someone on RX7club.com for $30 + shipping to the frozen north. Had them serviced and now have four injectors that are nearly perfectly matched. Always get them tested, even if you buy brand new. I've seen a brand new RC injector that was stuck.

550cc injectors are over kill for the power levels you are looking at 460's will do the trick.

Braineack 05-02-2007 12:34 PM

fwiw, im at 70% DC on 460s at 11psi. that's about 200rwhp or so.

jayc72 05-02-2007 01:32 PM

That's about what he's shooting for right?

Braineack 05-02-2007 02:11 PM

he'll be closer to 250rwhp, so I'd go at least 550cc.

jayc72 05-02-2007 02:24 PM

In all the various starts and stop on setup I must have mistaken his ultimate goal. I still think 460cc injectors will take you to 240-250hp. :)

Braineack 05-02-2007 02:34 PM

they should be able to support it, but will be very close to the limits....

jayc72 05-02-2007 02:48 PM

In my case my clutch will let go before I get to the point of maxing out the injectors. So it's all good! :)

Savington 05-02-2007 03:35 PM

Any downside to maxing 460cc injectors to hit 250rwhp? It wouldn't be a normal occurrance, just asking the 460s to stuff enough 100 octane in to cope with 15psi for a day here and here ;)

Braineack 05-02-2007 03:58 PM

you;ll be fine, you should just be hitting 85% DC at 250rwhp or so....but you have no room to work with... me, I'm not looking for no more than 220-230rwhp, so I have a bit of wiggle room.

neogenesis2004 05-02-2007 04:33 PM

you'll want more, they always want more.

Al Hounos 05-02-2007 04:47 PM

450s seem to be at 90% DC at redline at 12psi for me... too small for 250whp on a track car, IMO. for a street car that only sees it every once in a while, it would probably work.

jayc72 05-02-2007 04:49 PM

You guys really think Hustler will have the stones to turn up the boost? :)

Ben 05-02-2007 05:50 PM

I happen to know a guy who knows a guy who's 1.6 greddy with RC Eng 440s and a Link made 260 hp at the tires on a dynojet.

for the price difference, the 550cc headroom is worth it. I'm thinking I'll run the car at like 10psi, and see what kinda power it makes on MS with 3" exhaust and no cat.

no, I won't. Too much mechanical empathy. We'll see. I only wanted 250whp in my vw when I bought the turbo system. I ended up with 442whp, but it never saw the track. I'm really afraid of breaking stuff, and blowing up the motor even if its tuned safely. My vw really gave me hell.

Savington 05-02-2007 07:06 PM

At 220rwhp, equal prices, what benefits do 460cc injectors bring over 550cc injectors?

Ben 05-02-2007 07:16 PM

a tad better idle
