96 N/a 1.8 TPS weirdness with a MS3X
The car runs fine when hooked up to a stock ECU currently (Not sure if it would if the TPS was malfunctioning).
I just completed building a MS3 with Xpander board, I hooked it up the car to see if I could load firmware and such. Thankfully I was able to load firmware and a basemap! But I was calibrating my sensors and I've run into some weirdness with the throttle position sensor. It should be a completely stock setup you'd find on any 96 NA8. When I go to calibrate it, usually the closed value is 561 and the open value is 563; sometimes they will swap. I was wondering if anyone had maybe encountered a similar issue before? Or maybe if I could just get a direction to head down to start investigating the issue. |
I have no idea what the values are on my 96. Hmm.

what guide did you follow for wiring?
i've had a recent ms3x install expose a malfunctioned TPS... |

you should test your TPS with a multimeter. i thinks yours may have failed in the same manner -- youre basically sending a constant 5v back to MS.

I definitely will try that out!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but did you ever get the tps to work? I am having the same issue as the resistance readings/ continuity readings on the tps seem to be correct, but in Tuner Studio, "I built my ms3x following Braineack's walkthrough" my readings are 1022 - 1023 and they sometimes flip flop as well.
