Default MS2 Closed Loop Idle Issues

Hey folks,

95 1.8, completely stock minus the standalone MSII. I've been trying to get the idle over to closed loop instead of PWM warmup. I was following the steps in this thread: http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=46823 The idle valve works just fine in PWM warmup mode. However, whenever I switch it over to PWM closed loop, it seems to get stuck in the cranking PW settings. It never tapers into closed loop. The bottom of the dashboard says it's in CL idle, but it never attempts to reach the target RPM.

These are pretty much my settings except closed RPM is 800, open is 2000, and the PWMs are 23%-48%. P and I aren't those values, but changing I never got it to meet the RPMs i set as the target (1000 rpm). It idles at 850 with the valve at 23%. 23% is the value of I have for the warmest cranking PW setting. If I move the PW on the cranking settings, the PW output will change that value, even though it says its in closed loop idle.

So, anyone else have trouble getting it to not stick with the cranking settings?

First of all, when you change between warmup and closed loop, you must power cycle the ECU for the change to take effect, have you been doing that?

Secondly, post a log, and an MSQ.

Edit: Your PID Lockout settings look a bit keen to me, maybe bring the max load down to about 22kpa and put RPMdot up a bit to 200 or so.

Really? Doh! That probably explains why my attempts to do an idle valve test yesterday just produced madly ocillating revs when I opened the valve beyond thirtysomething percent, then. <kicks self>

Yep, I definitely cycled power after changing settings.

I'll grab a log and msq later tonight when I'm out of class. Ill also try changing the PID lockout

if the CL light comes on, then your parameters aren't setup correctly. I.e., work on tuning.
