98 1.8 install

Hi,

After searching, Im coming up with not alot of info.
I need to find some MS-1 install instructions/ECU pin-out for a 1.8 1998.

I've got an LC-1 to install with it and the MS-1 is a DIY kit fully build and working on a stim.

Cheers,
Craig

The problem is that the Miata was never sold as a 1998 model year in the US. Is this one an NA or NB body style?

it's an NB ;)

CRAIGO 06-22-2009 06:44 PM

What Richy said!

It's an NB and timing is off the crank. I'm guessing here, but if the 98 NB was never sold in the US, should I be looking out for the 99 NB ECU pin-out and MS-1 install instructions?

I'll be wanting to install it parallel with the stock ECU as I believe the alternator is regulated off the crank angle sensor.

Thanks,
Craig

Go MS-2, read

and especially the latest thread from Abe about his adapterboard.

Im not too keen on going MS-2. My requirements wouldn't take me beyond an MS-1 parallel install. I just want decent fuelling/ timing control for an intercooled supercharger install with the ability to bang in some larger injectors etc.

I don't see an issue with letting the stock ECU control the alternator and other boring stuff.

I'm still struggling to fins a defined pin-out/install guide for my 1998 NB car :(

That is how I did my parallel install as it was with the MS1.

MS1 install scheme 99-00

No guarantee though, it's just a little drawing I did for myself...

With MS1, you will have to add an NA cam sensor (or a 36-1 crank trigger), as only MS2 can read the stock sensors.

Thanks for the schematic Zaphoid.

I've got a mk1 CAS for the back of the exhaust cam so hopefully I'll soon be on my way.
