99 miata no start
 

Hi people, I just installed a diyautotune built ms3x in my 99 miata. The car is stock besides the ms3x, and aem uego, and a gm iat sensor. I have no idea what could be the issue here, I have calibrated all of my sensors properly i believe. Attached is my map, its just a trubokitty base map with my sensors changed. If this is not enough info (im sure its not) i will try to respond asap.
Also I can get it to start by giving it gas, but it seems to be running at around 11:1. If i let off the gas the car dies out.

If you can get it to start by giving it gas, then raise the cranking duty table(Idle Cranking Duty/Steps) to open the IAC valve to let more air in when cranking. If the car dies due to lack of fuel/too much fuel, pull/add fuel accordingly. You can blanket add fuel to the VE table idle region to get started if its running super lean or super rich.

3 seconds or so after the car starts, it will begin to reference the Idle VE Table instead of your normal VE Table (when idle conditions are met), and your idle VE table is 48 across the board. There should be a healthy spread across different load cells.

I tried that, ended up having IAC duty at like 70% and also tried removing some fuel to get a leaner afr, did nothin...

OK, try adding more fuel when you raise the cranking duty as well, should be cranking pulse which is a fuel modifier for the top left VE Table 100 kPA value. Should be able to get to a point where the car can start without throttle.

It is possible the car is injecting too much fuel and it is flooding the engine as well, I am assuming cracking the throttle gives the car more air and fuel to start, and holding the throttle stops the car from idling and dying (due to not enough IAC Duty when idling/too much/too little fuel)

Once it starts without throttle, then you just need to ensure the IAC Valve is open enough for the car to not stall when it settles down to idle, and its not too rich or lean. Since your car is currently utilizing open loop idle, its just the Idle Warmup Duty Cycle table for the IAC Valve opening for each coolant temp, and the VE Tables.

I would also recommend trying to take a log of the cranking + start with throttle, to see if the car is trying to idle and then it stalls then.

The DIY base map started my stock 2000 NB out of the gate...any reason you are not using the map that they offer?

I just looked at your tune, comparing it to mine. Things I noticed (in no specific order):
-- You are running the MAF, consider turning this off and use MAP only
-- Double check the injector dead time, and update the voltage curve - the latter helped my starting tremendously, particularly when the battery is less than fully charged
-- Consider turning off the injector trim
-- Consider turning off the spark trim
-- My NB idles well at 14 in the spark table, try lowering the idle cells in your map to this number.
-- Idle VE never worked for me, I'd turn that off and tune it when you get everything else in order. Or just never use it.

If it were me, I'd start by turning off idle VE, bring up the fuel map, highlight the idle cells from 1200 down, and pull fuel 2% at a time until the car runs on its own.
