Default Megasquirt PNP Idle too high!!!

Alright guys, the car is almost ready to go on the dyno. I have fixed all the vacuum leaks and installed my wideband also. Now my question is, Jerry from DIYautotune has given me a base map to use to idle my 550cc injectors, and I just cant get this darn thing to idle under 2000. My vacuum on the boost gauge reads 20 so there really shouldnt be any vacuum leaks. Any help will be appreciated because I dont want to drive to the dyno shop idling at 2000 rpm (especially with the cops here in so cal)

Have you adjusted the idle screw at all? That is one way to easily turn it down.

double check for vac leaks (again), make sure the TB is properly sealed all around on both the butterfly and in the actual seal with the manifold, make sure the idle bleeder valve is plugged in, and finally if all else fails you may have a failing idle valve. Also the valve could be sticky and it may help to pull idle valve intake tube off, start the motor and spray a conservative ammount of lubricant in it.

good luck and hope this was helpful.

thanks for the help akaryrye. I dont know how but the nipple behind the intake manifold had flown off. I am now down to about 1200 from 2000.

What's the idle valve DC at? You can manually close the valve further with MegaTune, on top of what you can do with the idle screw. I know I ended up closing mine another few percent when I was working with Jerry a couple months ago. Got my idle from 1600rpm to 1000.

my idle is good and smooth at 925 rpm using 040 plug gaps. i've tried it as low as 850, which was also fine, but too rich for my taste. damn injector minimum on times.

Ben, what the hell kind of plugs are you running where you can run .040 on 14psi? I'm at .028 on 15psi and I'm about to gap down to .025 or convert to COPs. I am getting very intermittent partial-throttle misfires.

stock plugs. using the toytota cop converion as discussed ad nauseum elsewhere on the forum.
i can only run about 7 psi or so with these gaps on the stock ignition.

bringing the gaps from 028 to 040 did a good job of clearing up my idle. not that it was bad before, but there was the random misfire event that you could hear but not really feel. those events are gone now.

****, that seals the deal on those COPs. I need to start getting that setup together for my '94. I've had very rare misfires since day 1 even on BKR7Es at .028.
