AFM pins
I've got a 1.6 + DIYPNP that I'm currently setting up.
I'm deleting the AFM and I was wondering if the other pins on this plug can be used to get other signals in/out of the ECU? Specifically I'm thinking of feeding the INJ3 and INJ4 via this plug but otherwise it might be useful for knock sensor or boost control. |
Well, you could always use it to feed in IAT, as the stock sensor was inside the AFM housing. It's also one of several spots where you can turn on the fuel pump by providing a closure to ground.
It'd be a tad concerned about carrying injector current over these lines. My recollection is that they wren't very heavy gauge, and they're quite long. |
Hi, i want to add a MAF instand of the AFM from the 1.8 on a 1.6, i am using a DIYPNP 1.5, does anyone know how to wire that up?
|
you can't.
why would you want any? |
Yeah, you can, but you'd need to send the MAF off to be bench tested and then import the MAF function into tunerstudio. The process isn't very well documented and would be a lot of trouble.
|
hm, i think the MAF works much better than all other Mods, because it is a stock solution.
how does it works on the NB with the diypnp or on the 1.8 NA´s ? |
how about removing it gives you 5hp...
its a restriction and unnecessary. Speed Density works great. |
xitsam only a few maf's have documeneted tables for them, personally I plan to use a MAF from a QR25DE nissan motor later on.
I believe one of the ford's has, the nissan v8 one and I know for sure the QR one. |

To be clear: If someone decides for whatever reason to transplant, say, a stock '99 ECU into their 1.6 car, then by all means I would support the use of the MAF sensor from the '99. But in an environment where you're already using a ECU which was designed principally to run in speed-density (MAP) mode, I cannot see the logic in wanting to use a MAF sensor with it, regardless of who the MAF sensor was made by or what vehicles it was originally installed in.

Why would you want to use a MAF sensor of any kind, as opposed to not using a MAF sensor at all? |

sounds good, I suppose I can leave my MAP sensor connected at its stock location and hook in the MAF to one of the spare inputs you mentioned Matt.
I found a curve for the KA24DE MAF I have. I plan to use that instead of a QR since there is a cruve sheet for it. |
