AFRs go lean when AC activates

Wondering if someone could take a peek at my tune and the two datalogs to see how I can fix this. This happens at idle or under load, and usually spikes for a brief moment. I tired adding more duty in idle VE in the higher load cells, but it still occurs at idle and under load. Possibly an AC setting I might be overlooking? I have upgraded Spal fans so that might have something to do with it as well.

First log is idle and second is a cruise log.
Thanks!

What, if any, troubleshooting have you done?

I don't understand what you're saying. How does one troubleshoot a tuning issue?

Your idle VE numbers don't make any sense. Start there.

I don't see it at 3K RPM cruise, only at idle. And the issue there is your indeed your idle VE table. At lower MAP you are too high and EGO is at 85%. A/C comes on and although VE goes up, it does not go up enough for the greater MAP. As EGO approaches 100, you are no long lean. If you have reason for the lower MAP Idle VE to be set rich (combatting hot re-start for instance) then carry that extra richness to the entire Idle table. Or, remove the richness down low, EGO will not go low, and then you will smoothly move to the higher MAP with A/C and no big jumps in AFR.

I presume you have not yet spent a lot of time on your main VE table either. Once you tune the parts that you routinely use, you should extrapolate into the remainder of the cells, at least for aesthetics.

Here is your 3D:

Here is a reasonably refined 3D with interpolation, extrapolation, smoothing:

Things should be improving for you as you work on these issues.

I changed those top idle VE numbers to see if it would effect my afrs when the AC kicks on. I'm either in the 73.5 cell at 900 rpm (no AC) or 75 cell at 1100 (with the AC on). But yeah, It needs to be gradual between cells and smoothed out. Still doesn't address the issue when I'm driving.

In AC idle-up, increasing the Idle-up duty % to something higher than the 13.3%, would that be something to change? Dunno, just poking around.

DNMakinson I'll have to check my cruise log again, but watching my afr gauge it does spike when the AC load is added. Okay, I'll take that advice and spend more time with it. I knew something was wrong with my EGO at 85% Yeah your map looks nice and smooth haha. I'll report back tomorrow with an update.

For anyone looking at the cruising log who may not know, status 7 switching from 0 to 32 is the A/C switching on. There does seem to be a lean spike lasting less than a quarter second. I don't see a reason for it, but IMO OP has much bigger fish to fry.

I don't know why you're thinking you should adjust idle up duty when you've already been told where your primary issue is.

HeavyD 07-26-2019 06:50 PM

DNMakinson had responded before I could reply, but yes you are correct. Thanks for taking a look.

I messed around with this some more today and was still having the issue. I lowered the duty so ego was around 100 the whole time and I would still get that spike for .5 seconds. I even added a bunch of duty with the increase in map and it would repeat itself.

I'll try to persuade someone into looking at it in a few days at MATG, in exchange for lunch and beer, since my knowledge ends about here haha.
