Aftermarket CLT sensor for MSPNP
 

Is anyone familiar with how to run megasquirt with an aftermarket water temp gauge? I'm assuming you can splice into the temp input and recalibrate the ECU to read the correct temperature, but my search didn't turn up anything.

I'm having trouble finding a way to tap into the water with my reroute and thought it might just be simpler to use the AEM gauge output instead since it's already installed and working fine. If there's a cheap and easy way to tap the stock sensor with the large waterneck at the back of the block that I'm unaware of that would be a great help as well. Whatever is going to be the easiest.

you can use almost any sensor as long as you tell the MS what resistance values it has.

You used EasyTherm to modify the .S19 file prior to flashing it onto the MS, and also to generate a new thermfactor.inc file which you copied over the existing one on your laptop?

I created the .ini and .s19 files in easytherm. I saved the .ini file over the current file. I tried last night a few times but easytherm wasn't able to connect to the megasquirt to upload the .s19 file. This morning I tried again and it upload. Now I can't connect to the megasquirt in megatune, I tried different Com Ports but none of them worked. If I try to start the car it does not want to crank. I was able to give it a little gas and get it to crank but it was running very poorly and died after a few seconds. Any suggestions or ideas on what went wrong?

You wiped out your firmware. You must use a boot jumper on the board and try it again.

you also better be removing your coils when you do this as well.

Also, the reflashing process nukes all your settings, so you'll need to re-load a recent MSQ after you're done and it's back up and running.

The real problem with sharing a gauge with the MSPNP is that the gauge is likely to have an internal bias resistor, and the way the MSPNP sends 5 volts to the gauge would skew its reading. Splitting the signal with a gauge is not recommended, but if you do this, you will need to measure the gauge's bias resistor and remove the bias resistor from the MSPNP.
