Default AIT and CLT temps seem to be off

I noticed today that my ait temps seem to be very low. Max I saw today was 90* and my water temps max out at 175* according to the MS even when the fans are on. Is there something I havent setup correctly?

Check ur email...sent u the instructions Scott gave me for Ez Therm....

MAKE SURE IT'S OK FOR YOUR CAR BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING

Also, I got a little confused while doing this and CJ helped me thru it...

https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17092

But seriously, make sure its ok for your car, and also make sure this is the latest version...When Scott gave me this, it was the latest at the time, BUT had recently changed...so who knows if they found even more accurate values...

you'll probably need to reflash the unit...

you'll use RX7 defaults for CLT with 1280 bias, and GM defaults for AIT with 1450 bias.

take caution, because this is where you can kill things. It's off becuase there still wasnt ever definite good values to use when i was making them, even mine were off. But if you use the bias I gave you above, your sensors will read within a few degrees of each other, if both were dipped in the same liquid.

Is this what I need to do?

2) GM IAT and Mazda CLT

i) Once the laptop is connected to the ECU open EasyTherm
ii) Change the 'Code Version' (towards the bottom on the RHS of the screen) to "Custom"
iii) Change the port to your port (COM 1 or what-ever it is) on the bottom of the screen
iv) Change the 'Coolant Temp' settings to your desired settings ***(see below for the settings most people use)
v) Once you have changed the settings, click on the "Write .inc and .s19 Files" button on the bottom of the EasyTherm screen
vi) The file that you want to write to is the 'msns-extra.s19' file in the "EFI" folder in the MSnSE file that you unzipped to earlier.
vii) Then click on the "Download to Megasquirt" button on the bottom of the EasyTherm screen. This will open the file that you wrote to before, BUT it will default to the 'msns-extra.s19' file. You NEED to download the 'msns-extra.s19_mod' file. Don't do the other file!!!!
viii) Follow the instructions in EasyTherm to do the download BUT you don't] need to install the Boot Jumper.
ix) Once this has finished you will need to copy the "airdenfactor.inc", the "matfactor.inc" and the "thermfactor.inc" files from Program Files > EasyTherm into Program Files > Megasquirt > MegaTune2.25 > mtCfg
x) Then once that is all done, open MegaTune, check that the commuincations is going through the same COM port as before, and if you see the guages in MegaTune giving some readings you can now download your .msq onto the ECU and you're good to go.

*** The CLT settings that most people seem to use for EasyTherm are

-4F 16200
68F 2450
176F 320

I have found these figures to give a 'low' temp reading so I changed them a little to

-4F 16200
86F 2450
176F 384

just download easytherm.

unplug coils, turn ignition to on, save map.

then simply click custom, the com port, and then download to MS. pick the .s19 file in the zip and let it burn, ignore jumper requests, dont touch your mouse untill it's done (1730 rows) or it will freeze. copy three files to megatune/car1/mtcfg (if that's the project folder you are using)

reburn map, reconnect ignitor.

Ok, I followed your instructions but when I went to download to MS I got a communication error on ports 1,2 & 3. Port 4 gives me Error number 8012. What does that mean?

FYI my laptop usb ports are 5-8. Easytherm only shows 1-4.

Well I think I somehow fried a coil. I pulled the wires off the coil closest to the drivers side with the car running and theres no spark. How could that have happened? I disconneted the ignitor and the plug to the coils that sit above the cas before I reflashed?

So I went back out there to try a few things when I noticed that my ignitor apparently got so hot that it melted the fuse box cover. I usually keep that part of the harness tucked down behind the fuse box but when I plugged it back in after the reflash I just rested it on top of the fuse box and now it melted a hole right in it. Any ideas guys?

i can mail you a new coilpack tomorrow and see if that helps....but if the igniter isn't connected when flashing and burning, then there shouldn't be anyway it can fry.... plus the igniter would fry before the coilpack would.

for ***** and giggles...download this: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/downl2.htm

change the settings for your com port and speed to 9600....then run read signature...paste results.
