officially computer stupid (diypnp)
Okay . I've had a 96-97 diypnp for about three months and still haven't been able to get the car started. I think there are many factors that contribute to this.
When I load the base map I get 11 warnings. I don't think I have a tach signal because on the computer it reads between 1 and 0, like this 1-0-0-1-0. No tach means no fuel right?
I've been cool so far but now I'm getting depressed because I want to start hitting the track. HELP ME. I have no ideas.
Please don't bitch at me. Megasquirt I'd really appreciate if someone could help out. Thank you.

Very small voltage spikes will cause the tach MS to jump a bit. You mean 1rpm, right? Not 1k rpm? What will it do, crank? Check for spark while cranking if it does. And can you hear the fuel pump turn on briefly when you turn the key?

Yeah 1 rpm. Yes I can hear the fuel pump to. I have spark. It sounds like the timing is off and no fuel at all. I try to crank and I get backfire. I really don't want to mess around with it anymore on my own.
I think my problem is the warnings issue but I honestly can't interpret them.

view the log of the warnings and post it. what version firmware do you have loaded, and what version MSQ did you load?
post the msq you used.
if you follow the writeup on diyautotune.com you shouldnt have any issues.

I'd recommend going ahead and loading the newest firmware, which right now is 3.0.3r available from the MSExtra website.
You will need to hand create the entire map, though you can move the spark and ve tables over as .vex files (import/export) if you want.
Sounds like you might have some other issue(s) as well, but we need to start with a good map before moving forward.

I finished the map. But there were some differences. If you guys wouldn't mind looking general settings and The acceleration wizard. I don't understand the values.
(left side is the new one)
edit: I also updated the firmware to 3.0.3r on the car.

Here's what I've been using:
MAPdot threshold :100
Accel Time: 0.3
Accel Taper Time: 0.1
End Pulsewidth: 2.0
TPSdot threshold: 80.0
Decel Fuel Amount: 90
Cold Accel: 0.0
Cold Multiplier: 130
Rate (%/s):
65.8 - 1.0ms
330 - 1.3ms
627 - 1.6ms
938 - 2.5ms
