Anyone know of a decent guide to tuning a Megasquirt?

How to use the autotune features, what to set AFR values to, etc. I googled it but didn't come up with anything. Anyone have something decent for me to spend a couple hours reading? :bigtu:

and how the fuck do I get more rows (kpa) and more columns (rpm) in the VE table? I must be overlooking something.

I've seen this recommended before but I haven't read it. $20 seems a reasonable amount and the reviews are positive.

Please do not buy this book, I did and completely regret it. It has absolutely no information on actual tuning principles and whatnot. Instead it tells you what you can do with modern EFI systems apparantly assuming that one will leave the actual tuning to a professional. I was pissed, didnt even get into general guidelines for AFR's in regard to boost and torque peaks, lame.

Mod parent up. I have spent $$$ on car books, this a must avoid - unless you don't know what EFI is all about. ABSOLUTELY NO TUNING INSIDE. It will tell you what an ECU is, what a TPS is, how Bob Who-Is-He puts twin turbos on a guy's Ferrari F50 (like-we-f***ng-care). Maybe good as an intro if you want to MS your car but cant tell a CTS sensor from a CAS sensor. Otherwise, just move along.

heh, i'm gonna have to agree with the two posts above. the megamanual was much more helpful. the spark tuning section on that book basically said it's really hard, it takes forever, and you need a dyno.

I apologize. I didn't mean to spread bad information. I should know better than to recommend something I haven't read. On the plus side, now I know not to buy it.

And thats why this place is awesome, we flame or ban you when you do something stupid, but at least we keep you from actually doing something stupid...:)

+1 on the megamanual. You really have to read it section by section to understand what each of the settings is. It's easy to get the car running with the settings on the board already but knowing why those settings are what they are is a different story. I would go thought the MM, then if I didn't understand something do a couple searches at msefi and msextra then here and then ask some questions, someone is bound to be able to answer them.

You can move them by entering new values in the kPa and RPM bins at the bottom of the VE table. The total number of bins is fixed but you can move them as needed.
