Anyone running MSDroid on an Android Auto head unit?
Looking to install an android auto double din and display gauges on it using msdroid.

What is the question?
Will work with the USB input. |
I'm using a generic Android tablet running MSDroid connecting to my MS2PNP via a diy Wifi connection. It works well, but disconnects from time to time.

i am running a $130 ebay andriod head unit with msdroid connected to my ms3 basic via a USB cord.
I could not get the head unit to connect to the bluetooth adapter on the ms3. so using a USB cable is a must it seems. the setup works well, except some times the output will jump around and freeze up, which requires closing the app and restarting. i suspect a bad usb cable, will try a new one soon. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8f84a96b83.jpg |
I tried it as well. My plan was to use bluetooth, but evidently it's common for Android Head Units to not support data transfer via bluetooth, at least not in the way that is required by MSdroid/Megasquirt.
I really don't want to use USB, because I think i'd rather just use my laptop for that if I need to tune. |
Guess you can have a USB extension with the plug somewhere accessible (glovebox?) so that you can disconnect the HU and connect the laptop.

I do have an issue with the connection constantly dropping out though. This happens with my phone when I run Android Auto as well. It could be the HU, or it could be the quality of cables supplied with the HU. I'll try to replace the cables first. |
