Figure out how to control the MS from my iPhone with TS and then I will be impressed. Lol

If I ever do anything like that, It would probably be android based (I've been thinking about a logging/basic data display program for a while).

I will NEVER own an iphone.

Well, the source is like a 5.5MB footprint. Probably much less in binary. How large is the executable you downloaded? Also, it only supports TIFF and some BMPs which blows my nuts. Why it doesn't support RAW binary images is beyond me.... If it did I could probably store it on external memory and call it from there. sadface :(

The whole folder is 3.5mb. The binary is only about 800kb. With PIL I can use any image format (except for multipage TIFF, which I guess is a challenge with lots of image programs). In the readme file it talks about needing additional libraries for other formats. Imagemagick would probably do the trick.

Baller. I had an idea like this. But I'm computer stupid and couldn't follow through.

A decicated app would be awesome, but until that happens you could do it like this if you really wanted to.
Set up an ad-hoc wireless connection between iphone and carputer and take over carputer screen with vnc. It does work, but probable not very practical. Cool to impress your friends though.
I turned the ignition on without starting the car (kids are already to bed) so I can't say how the refresh rate is.

The end result will most likely have a GUI (based on either WxWidgets or GTK, I haven't decided yet)

PyQT!

I'm not a big fan of KDE/QT ever since the transition to 4.x.

KDE, maybe not, but QT ain't too shabby. Licensing is better now that Nokia purchased it (they wrote their own LGPL version of PyQT).
