bought ms3+x

I bought ebc & ms upgrade. The page I had bookmarked and the searches ive done seem to reference boostedmiata.com and they are all broken links. Does anyone have pictures of the changes i need to make?

krissetsfire 07-27-2013 07:43 PM

I found an alternative reference. nevermind.

Scott needs to stop being lazy. Isn't that his website? Lars I see you spying this thread... I know a bunch of your photos from your build thread are/were hosted on there... made me a sad panda when I was looking through it yesterday.

email scott and tell him you wanna talk about improving his subaru's throttle response

he'll respond in .00001 seconds :giggle:

there are a lot of threads missing pictures now xD. the wiki is missing stuff.

Onyxyth 07-28-2013 08:00 AM

Yeah, a lot of the FAQ threads are outdated too. They're written for things like megatune or ms1, which can get frustrating for a new guy like myself. I read info then have to research if its even relevant or not anymore.

the new and improved miataturbo wikidot: buy a MS.

DIY has an online manual for tuning it.

Braineack 07-29-2013 10:07 AM

One of these days I'll fix all my images.

but really all the MS writeups are old and outdated, just like the DIY FAQ. While the info is not wrong, it just doesn't follow best practices.

If you want MS guides, use Frank's: 90-97 MS3 | Frank's Westfield MX5 90-97 MS3 |

They are a semi-collaboration between him and I; but they are ultimately his and his content.

Not to dwell on it, but I think megasquirt is at a tipping point where the features are changing faster than the documentation can keep up. The community can only update as fast as the best users buy a new version.

I built my ms3x almost a year ago and I still have trouble finding current information. There is a big gap between a summary of features and an actual guide for setup and optimization.

Braineack 07-29-2013 12:00 PM

this is true.

there's only two people writing code, and they don't necessarily document the new features in a timely manner.

You need to frequent msextra.com if you want to keep in the loop. Or ask here, that shouldn't keep you from going ms3; it's so much better than ms1 and ms2.

But honestly the current documents should be more than enough to get you going, and it's still pretty much the same as MS2 with fancy new features. The core of it all is still the same. MS2 maps can load into MS3.

That's my biggest bugbear of MS. The documentation is shocking.

All the effort seems to be going into the tooltips in the tuning software now too, but they don't go into enough detail about how a feature works.

The devs would save a lot of time answering questions on the forum if the features the add were actually documented.

For the MS3, try the MS3-Pro guide; I've made sure it keeps up with current release firmware.

On the other hand - alpha code has alpha documentation.

Shame release code doesn't have Release documentation then ;)

(not a Dig at the MS3Pro documentation btw, I've not looked at that, merely the stuff available on MSExtra.com/docs
