Braineack's vs. PNP

What is the difference? Any features one has that the other doesn't or can Braineack just do it a lot cheaper? Thanks a lot.

Zabac 08-05-2009 10:56 PM

For ultimate cheap, do it yourself...
Both are the same other than the case they come in.
You decide what you want.
So, I suppose Scott is building them again? Good to know ;)

MiataMX5 08-05-2009 11:12 PM

I dont think I could build my own.

mx5newbie 08-05-2009 11:20 PM

Were close enough. If you buy one, I will too. We'll build them together. As I hear, they are not that difficult to put together. Soldering required though.

MiataMX5 08-05-2009 11:34 PM

I can handle that. Do you have any experience or knowledge of how they work because I dont. By the way hows your build going?

SKMetalworks 08-06-2009 12:10 AM

You should both ride together in the miata with the top down, blaring U2 ,and holding hands. :giggle:

Just kidding

mx5newbie 08-06-2009 06:52 AM

Ha!:giggle: on a serious note, I know a guy who does know a lot about it. He's running one on a buggy with a turbo'd Saturn motor pushing 10 psi. I'll figure it out.

18psi 08-06-2009 07:03 AM

So much gayness in this thread:giggle:
Post results you two.

mx5newbie 08-06-2009 08:04 AM

Gay statements are soo funny. I love this place.

FRT_Fun 08-06-2009 08:51 AM

Try being deployed to Afghanistan... things get pretty gay over here.. Especially today, since it's man love Thursday.

gospeed81 08-06-2009 09:03 AM

Happy with my set-up from Braineack.

Oscar 08-06-2009 04:20 PM

Me too. Same functionality as the PnP at basically half the price. Just the case is different...

Braineack 08-06-2009 04:23 PM

there's more than just the case, but it's more or less the same.

MiataMX5 08-06-2009 09:22 PM

Same features?

Pretty much.

ogwazza 08-08-2009 04:36 AM

Pretty much all the same features, but getting Brain to do one for you is the way to go if you don't want to solder one up yourself.
He will also put the right things in for your setup, so he is your best option really.

FRT_Fun 08-08-2009 06:28 AM

He is in the process of doing one for me right now :D

I forgot the harness that comes with it too:brain:

but you get my point;)

MiataMX5 08-08-2009 11:12 PM

Is it plug and play?

LOL. He hasn't read up yet. Just like his last post in the thread about the $175 PnP COP kit....

This behavior may get him banned if he is not joking. I seriously think he is joking.

I know Braineack's has a PNP harness but I didn't know if it was PNP if you went standalone and did away with your stock computer.

CRXican 08-11-2009 03:12 PM

It was a semi-legit question. This MS business everyone says is so easy is still a mystery to me. I was reading the manual online last night.

As for the Braineack, there is a different hookup for standalone and piggyback but they both just plug in as far as I can tell.

Braineack 08-11-2009 03:13 PM

they are about 98% plug and play.

Both harnesses require wiring the AIT sensor if applicable, map sensor and WBo2. the 90-93 requires jumping the fuel pump in the diagnostics box.

Isn't that the case for the OG PnP as well?

Braineack 08-11-2009 03:26 PM

I believe so yes.

MiataMX5 08-11-2009 04:28 PM

Thanks.

Matt Cramer 08-12-2009 10:36 AM

Except for jumping the fuel pump relay in the diagnostic box - the MSPNP does not need that, but it does require pulling the ST SIGN fuse.

MiataMX5 08-12-2009 06:17 PM

Is that something difficult? Never jumped a relay. Thanks again
