Default Can’t Load Base Map on DIYPNP

Hey there, I finished putting together my DIYPNP for my NB1. Used WestfieldMX5 alternator board, everything powers on and reads fine in TunerStudio. Only one problem, my firmware signature is a lot newer than the base map signature provided by DIYAutoTune. So it won’t write to controller because the signatures do not match. I tried to ignore and it started writing, but was stuck at 0% the whole time.

Hooking it up to the car, I calibrated the TPS, CLT, etc. and tried just changing all the settings by myself, but I’m new to this tuning stuff so I’m not sure what all needs to be adjusted (I set ignition settings and fuel settings, other than that I’m not sure what else, I started to set the base timing but figured I would wait to make sure I have everything dialed first).

Anyone have an up to date base map for the ‘99 NB? Or can someone walk me through how to get the car running?

When I installed my DIYPNP I had the same issue, the following worked for me:

Disconnect your ECU from the laptop and close TunerStudio. right click the tune file, open with TunerStudio, it should give you some kind of message about only being able to view the file since it's a different version or something like that, click ok. You may or may not also get a message once the file opens listing a bunch of errors, check the list to be 100% sure but in my case (and according to Matt Kramer pretty much all cases) the errors are just due to changes in the way they define units in different versions. Once you close that message you should be able to view the tune file. Then save it (make sure you Save As) and close TunerStudio. It should now be saved as a "new version" file and load to your ECU correctly when you reconnect it.

edit: also for what it's worth, IIRC the base maps from trubokitty.com are better than DIYAutotune's

DIYAutotune has amazing email support available during work hours M-F. I know, I've used their support for the two units I have of theirs.

And I went through this on my DIYPNP when I updated the firmware from the 2.xx to the 3.xx. Just get the new file from TS for the firmware you have and then double check ALL of the settings against your base map. When I updated, it changed a slew of things and the car wouldn't start.
