Car died, Now it seems like there is a short to power

So background info: 1990 miata with stock 1.8 turbo swap, mspnp2. I just installed the pnp and got it to drive pretty decent, on my attempt of a 3rd drive i was letting the car warm up while getting the laptop started. About 2ish min in the car died and i tried to start it back up but it cranked for awhile and i had to use a little throttle to get it to go, but then it started and instantly died. No weird noises when it died but now when i try to start it, it just cranks. Now this is the wierd part, when i key to accessory i get a fuel pump prime but usually this would happen in the on position only. Also when i have the key out completely i still have power going to my wideband and the rear lights are on and i think i heard the fan running as well. I'm completely lost as to why this could happen but im thinking this could be a possible ignition switch failure? Any help is appreciated as i have to get the car back home asap, Thanks!

If the wideband was wired to accessory or ignition power and the switch has been moved to the off position(I presume this with the key out) then the only reasonable explanation is a faulty ignition switch. That or fairies. I kinda hope it's fairies. Please take pictures of the fairies.

If you have a DMM we can confirm it's fairies.

I think I can confirm it was the fairies. Went to start it today after unplugging and replugging the ignition switch in and it started right up. Kind of worried now as I don’t know if/when this could happen again.

Every ignition switch failure I've ever seen has been an intermittent issue. You may want to disassemble the switch to inspect.

Will do, I replaced the switch regardless just to have some peace of mind. Thanks for the response.
