Chasing my tail on startup woes
2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys! I need help finding my way out of this paper bag.
I finally got around to re-installing my megasquirt when I put on my turbo. I'm currently struggling with start up and starter kickback. 99 motor using it's cam and crank sensor, 550cc injectors, FM turbo kit, 91 igniter & coils. I had it running for a bit, but I think that I buggered something up in my pursuit to fine tune and I am now back to a non-running state. So far, I have verfied mechanical timing, ran a new ground from MS to engine, ran an independent wire outside of the harness for the crank sensor (I thought that I was getting too much noise), installed a new starter & cam sensor. What am I missing here? I have been unable to get it to crank long enough to check engine timing before getting kickback on the starter. I used the 99 base map from DIYautotune, followed Brain's website on build, and modified the basemap for my 91 igniters. Can anyone provide me with some direction? Thanks in advance! |
Decrease your cranking advance.
edit: as bad as it sounds try 5-10 degrees. You can go negative. |
I appreciate the suggestion. Tried it from -10* to +10* and no change.
I now suspect that I either have a hardware fault with the MS or a blown igniter (but I get spark from both coils in the test mode). Voltage (on Tunerstudio) fluctuates wildly between 15-19 with the IAC plugged in and a flat 7v with it unplugged. Also, MS shuts down or loses connection with my PC while cranking with the IAC unplugged. Composite logs seem to suggest a hardware fault, also. To insure that I wasn't barking up the wrong tree, I re-installed my CAS, reconfigured MS for 4g63, and still receive mostly non-sensical data from composite logs. Any other suggestions are very welcome. |
