Cold start problem - V3 MS1
Hi all,
i've been running V3 MS1 on my 92 Eunos for a couple of weeks now and cold starts, morning or after work when the car has been sat most of the day are, frankly crap. It takes a good 10 secs with the key and pumping the peddle to get her started then i have to hold the revs around 2500rpm for around 30 secs otherwise she'll stall. Once warm the car is fine. When starting her up for the first time i get lots of pops, shakes and bangs and a really strong smell of fuel. Also for a couple of minutes after shes been running the revs fluctuate between 1500 and 2100rpm Could she be flooding? I'm on a stock 1.6 engine with 1.8 (beige top) injectors and the MSPNP base map. The only setting i have changed is the required fuel for the bigger injectors. What do i need to adjust to try and get cold starts better?? I'm a total noob with this stuff and still learning so appreciate any help. Oh and I'm using Tunerstudio. Thanks in advance. |
open up the cranking/prime table.
at your particular temp in the morning, lower the fuel value signigantly, then work your way up about .2ms until it starts right up. |

lets say it.s 4*C out right now. Focus on that particular number for now.
Just glancing it already looks like your injecting too much fuel at that temperature comparing the 16*C and -7*C numbers. |
brilliant so i'll half the numbers from 4C upwards and give it a shot, thanks for your swift reply.

Well looks like you were right, I halved all the figures from 4c upwards, turned the key and she fired up first time!!!! didn't touch the pedal at all!! I had to up the figures slightly from about 38 upwards to get her to restart but now she's fine.
Attachment 202530 well chuffed. Excellent work Brianeack, many thanks Mel |
