Connecting LC-1 to newer lap tops ?
I haven't tried to do this in ages and I have a newer lap top now ...
I'm trouble shooting an issue with my LC-1 and want to connect to the lap top. Do I still need a USB to serial adapter or can I buy cable with usb on one end and a 1.5mm male on the other ? BTW I don't have either right now just the cable that came with my wideband. It has what looks to be a small headphone male plug and a serial on the other :wavey: Thanks |
far as I know you'll still have to use a serial adapter or serial port for it, though some people have made guides to converting it to usb port over the 3.5

Make sure it's a FTDI based chip driving that adapter cable or you will probably have driver issues. The lesser made Chinese cheapo ones also lack some functionality, like the reset pin aka DTR, and RTS pins which are often unpopulated.

This for sure! I found if you get stuck with the Chinese one you can install Ubuntu(or linux of your choosing) and it will have a compatible driver right off |
