I thought others might be interested in my TPS solution.

Picked up a VTPS from a bmw 318i at pickapart.

Pros:
Variable
Fits the throttle body shaft
Uses the same three pin plug

Cons:
Shaft is too long, would need to be cut down or spaced out, will need some kind of adapter for bolting on regardless
Plug points backwards instead of forwards
Pinout is different to stock plug

I made a spacer out of a block of some kind of composite material an engineer gave me. Had planned to use a block of aluminium but this was free and easier to machine.

Pins in the wiring harness plug were pulled out and swapped around to match the VTPS.

Ideally the plug would have pointed forwards but the plug does reaches fine and it only makes it a teeny bit harder to install.

I'm pretty happy with it. It's doing the job and it was easy to set up.
