Custom User Defined Values Possible?

I have a MS3 PRO. I remember back in the day, you could make up a variable, like for example Vehicle speed = Input 5 / 533, and it would display the new variable as a function of that one.

I just can't seem to find where you do this in TunerStudio.

I am going to add a fuel pressure sensor, and what I want to do is define a new variable called Fuel Pressure_Corrected. It will be:

Fuel Pressure Corrected = Fuel Pressure Measured (in kPa) + (-101kPa + MAP Sensor Measured kPa)

And deal with units.

But this would take the fuel pressure changes due to MAP fluctuations out and thus this new "corrected" fuel pressure should always be constant. I will be running a 1:1 Fuel pressure regulator with vacuum reference hooked up.

I just can't find where to enter a user-defined variable in TunerStudio, surely you can still do this?

Anyone? I can't find it anywhere.... Surely they didn't remove functionality?

I'm not sure I see the usefulness, but you can add custom math fields like this in MegaLogViewer.
MegaLogViewer HD - Formulas

But if I felt like I had a fuel pressure issue where the same load/rpm zone would not result in consistent pressure, I would build a scatter plot of MAP vs RPM vs fuel pressure and look for a trend line/outliers.

Basically I just wanted to be able to calculate a corrected fuel pressure, one that should always be constant, and set an output on my ECU so that if it drops (like my filter is dirty, or pump is weak or not big enough up top), a warning light would turn on showing me this in realtime. If MS3 PRO doesn't do this, that's ok, but I thought it did hence why I posted... I see MLV does it but that's not gonna do what I'm looking for. I guess I'll just rely on a AFR output and not worry about fuel pressure.

I see. You're looking to add a math operation as a conditional output. Sorry, that is not currently supported.

However check the Fuel Pressure Safety System -- it works with the AFR safety system. I believe that it outputs to the check engine light when triggered. I think that is exactly the feature you're looking for, but without the fuss of setting up a math operation channel.

The relative pressure must be in the system already since it's used for the fuel pressure safety feature. I guess you'd have to ask efianalytics to add it?

No big deal. Unrelated question, but on a MS3 PRO, what is the lowest current rating of any of the outputs? I'm building a warning system and plan to use the outputs to ground an LED, so surely nothing over 100ma, probably less. Seems all the outputs are 3A or more?

PiazzaT 10-27-2014 05:18 PM

Actualy I think the fuel pressure safety can output a signal giving you what you'r asking for!

All outputs are rated at 3amps or 5amps.

I guess I'm blind and can't google today, where is the fuel pressure safety system? I see the AFR safety system under fuel in Tuner Studio.

Fuel pressure safty

should be further down under the fuel tab

patsmx5 10-27-2014 05:29 PM

I don't see it. I updated TS yesterday, it says I have TunerStudio MS v2.6.04

PiazzaT 10-27-2014 05:33 PM

I'm looking at a project for a MS3PRO running 1.24 firmware using TS v2.6.04

patsmx5 10-27-2014 05:43 PM

I downloaded the latest firmware, changed project settings, I see it now. Thank you for the help gentlemen! Looks like it does what I want, I just need to look over it.
