DB15 pinout options
Hi,
Just wondering what folks think of the following wiring options for the DB15 when using a DIYPNP MS2. I believe the tracks 1-8 are heavier and therefore better for higher loads, as such this is what I'm planning to use: 1 INJ1 2 INJ2 3 INJ3 4 INJ4 5 spare 6 EBC 7 GND 8 12V 9 spare 10 spare 11 spare 12 KNOCK 13 FLEX 14 O2 SNSR 15 SNSR GND Thoughts? |
I would go with:
1) INJ1 2) INJ2 3) EBC 4) GND 5) SPARE 6) SPARE 7) FLEX 8) KNOCK 9) INJ3 10) INJ4 11) 12V 12) SPARE 13) SPARE 14) SNSR GND 15) O2 SENSOR |
But aren't tracks 1-8 the heavier tracks and the others less so, in which case all those things from 9-15 could potentially burn out the thinner tracks?

They won't burn or even heat up at ~1A pulsed.

Would it not seem logical to put the lower current items (sensors on 7 & 8) onto the later tracks. I just don't see why you'd put a 12v supply that is only more likely to burn out a track when there are stronger tracks available. Just seems poorly thought out.
Perhaps you can explain why you changed the order and arrangement? G |
Noise. Look at the actual DB15 connector, I've placed all the noisy stuff on one end, and all the sensitive analog signals on the other end. If you are worried about burning out the 12V supply trace, you can swap 5 with 11.

Lol. So the tracks near each other and the bringing together of those wires due to the clamshell for DB15 don't impact noise? I guess it depends what you are worried about.... Either the chance of burning out the board tracks or inducing noise as some parts come close together.

....apart from that, what about the clamshell? How do you keep those wire apart?

Keep all the noisy wires taped together, and then run the sensitive analog wires in a shielded cable.
