DIYPNP 00 Miata No Start
4 Attachment(s)
I have been trying to get my diypnp to start my 00 Miata. Today I got the car to crank and start and then turn off right away. If I give it gas while it is starting it will run for a little and backfired thru the intake. If anyone has any input on what I should try I would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the datalog of when I was starting up and the tune file.
I have AEM X series wideband GM IAT sensor no MAF stock injectors |
If it's backfiring through the intake, check the timing.

I do have an adjustable timing wheel that I set back to 10 degrees with the stock computer in before trying to put the mega squirt in. So with the megasquirt and the 99-00 miata base map I can not get the motor running enough to check timing. What should my settings for timing be set to in tuner studio to get it thinking it is normal again.

Have you tried running with the MAF before using the IAT? My car ran fine for awhile off of the MAF. Then once I got comfortable with it, changed a few settings, and switched over to the GM IAT. The base map with the PNP worked ok for me but at least the car would run enough to tune...

Yes i tried it with and with out the GM IAT sensor I though that may of been the problem that it was not there so I hooked it up with the same out come. Later today I will post pictures of the inside of the mega squirt. So someone that has built one of these before can see if anything looks out of place. Though I have looked thru the instructions a few times. Hope I can get some incite.

Any chance you took the timing wheel off since it ran last? I've seen a lot of people put the wheel on backwards and get similar results.

Disconnect the injectors and check timing while cranking.

It doesn't matter. The DIYPNP doesn't use the diagnostic port.

Depends on how you've got it wired, but there is certainly no reason to leave the factory O2 sensor plugged in.
