Wideband placement is important
You never place it on the side of the exhaust pipe - only between 10 and 2 o'clock. Why? Because when condensation forms on it...
...you don't want the condensation dripping down inside the sensor. This sensor pictured here was brand new and damaged after idling for 20 minutes, then cooling down for another 10-15 minutes (the sensor was fitted by the exhaust shop and contrary to my specific instructions).
So do resist the temptation and place it properly.
