Default Help with MSPNP install

Okay so I received my MSPNP2 in the mail a few days ago. I finally got around to attempting to get it up and running but with no luck. I have a 1997 M edition which is at the moment bone stock. I have a turbo kit on the way but I wanted to get the MS in the car and running before I start adding forced induction. So I got the MAP sensor vacuum line running from the throttle body to the ECU and the IAT mounted and wired (I could've done this incorrectly as I'm retarded when it comes to wiring) and I got the MS plugged into the factory harness. Turned the key and it cranked for approximately 0.7 seconds and died. By this time I was kinda frustrated so I returned everything to stock and tucked the MS away in a closet. Basically I'm asking if anyone can maybe give me a quick walk through of the install and first startup procedure. Also if there's anyone located in the Katy/West Houston area that is a little more knowledgeable about this whole ecu and tuning thing I'd love to meet up and maybe get some pointers. Thanks for your time. - Jacob

Where did you get the MSPNP from? Did you receive instructions with it, and did you follow them exactly? I know with my MS I got a pretty nice walk through of the basics needed to get mine up and running from Revenant at MSLabs.

Did you confirm base timing, I think in the NA's you need to pull a fuse somewhere in the engine bay as well. Did you log of your initial start up? You got to give more information then what you provided for anyone to start trying to help you.

I'd suggest you read some more and come back with more details on whats going on once you have a better understanding of what you are trying to do.

Installation instructions are here:

MegaSquirtPNP by DIYAutoTune.com

And the main MSPNP manual is here:

MegaSquirtPNP by DIYAutoTune.com

Is that what you were looking for?

Thank you Matt, those were the instructions I was looking for. I got the MS from diyautotune but I guess I missed the instructions somewhere. Anot her question, I've heard people say that the 10 amp fuse only has to be removed on the 1.6, is there any truth to this or does it need to be removed on the 1.8 too?

Was there any reference to fuel pump power circuit in the instructions?

This applies to 1.6s where the fuel pump is controlled by a switch in the vane air flow meter only. We had to take over some other circuitry to get it under ECU control. 1.8s do not have this abomination in their wiring.

Hey sorry to chime in guys but i had a few question and i couldnt find anything to help me. I have a 1990 miata (92 engine) and i just got my MS2 (idk if its PNP but it is a pre-assembled unit) and i soldered up the MS harness to an extra ecu connector i had, plugged it in with all the right sensors and nothing, it just cranked. I tested for spark and got none. I know the MS is getting power though as it runs my rad fans. Ill also attach the diagram i used. Im still waiting on an adapter for the MS computer cable so i have not been able to sync it to my computer, im sure your supposed to do this first, but its lost in the mail and i was too excited haha!!. If anyone has any ideas, any help would be appreciated. Im very new to this but im excited to learn!

Thanks guys!
