DIYPNP running on my 2002
5 Attachment(s)
As the titles says.
- Standalone - Full sequential with Jean's/DIY's extra board - Using an extra 28way circular connector right next to the stock connector instead of the DB15 on the back. - External 1bar map sensor - Wired WLED/ALED to the extra connector so that I can upgrade easily to full COP ignition - Running the idle valve at 488Hz with Jean's PWM multiplier board: no valve clicking and full resolution instead of the 2% steps - Cooling fan to Relay1 - Switchable tables - Launch control - RPM, VSS, MAP, TPS, CLT, AC UP valve, CANH, CANL, RS232, VVT, brake, psp, tranny neutral, clutch switch signals out through the extra connector - I made an extra controller that: * Lights the CEL whenever RPM<500 * Flashes the battery light slowly when (batt<11 and rpm<500) or (batt<13 and rpm>500) and flashes the light rapidly when (batt>15.5 and rpm>500). Battery is light when (batt>11 and rpm<500) and is off when (13.5<batt<15.5 and rpm>500). I have an RX-7 FD alternator, not Jason's circuit, which never worked for me. * Starts the A/C fan when CLT>98C (hysterisis 3C) and rpm>500 * Starts the A/C compressor, A/C Fan, A/C idle up valve when the A/C button is pressed * Stops the A/C compressor, A/C Fan, A/C idle up valve when the button is depressed Or RPM>5000 (hysterisis 200rpm) Or TPS>90% (hysterisis 5%). All I can say for sequential is WOW. This thing idles like a dream even with my MS1-backported VE and ignition map. I use TPSdot which needs work (the values from my MS1 are way off), but really, it runs like a dream. Jim Ps. :useless: |
Very cool, especially the custom low batt light. I finished my MS2E build yesterday as well.
Edit: Will start a seperate thread to not mess up yours. |
Wow, very nice - both of the setups.
I am really looking forward to your experiences with the PWM board and the settings for the cl idle. I would also be interested in your cranking PWs... with the sequential injection. Greets |

Have a set of cops waiting to be installed. Don't think I'll be using sequential spark though....but I don't see the benefits of seq injection.
you mean the benefits of seq. ignition, right? |

If you're running longer dwell coils, then seq spark becomes more important. I'm running LS2 coils, which are waaaayyy hotter than the toyo COPs most are running, but they charge up to 5.5ms and have 2ms spark duration. The charge cycles are basically twice as long as the toyo's, and the cycles start stepping on each other around 4k rpm in waste spark (I watched it on the scope). This will result in a weaker than potential spark and the lack of recovery time is hard on the coils. |

Very nice! Does DIY stock the 01-05 72 pin connector now, or did you have to source it yourself (and from where, if you got it yourself?)?

all this talk about sequential injection makes me wanna rock it as well...I assume I need the jbref.com 4 driver board right?

No, you don't. You only need two additional injector drivers, which must be the same as the ones you already run, and you must replicate the injector driver circuits - see the MS schematics for more info. Jim |
Oh, I could make that happen easy...just need to rewire the injector harness and run two new wires.. .ill probably just get it running first on MSII batch fire at least this weekend; work out the random issues that might come up, since it's fairly undocumented on a CAS setup let alone the 1.6L at all.
|
It currently won't work on the NA CAS, you either need to tell James/Ken the correct angles in the CAS (or program them yourself if you are brave enough) or use a trigger wheel (ie 36-1, 60-2) AND a camshaft signal (the CAS with only one signal per revolution will do).
Jim |
I have the 4-1 CAS you need Brainy.
|
I was under the impression the 4g63 was supported for sequential.
It's certainly listed as supported on Jeans website... |
Indeed a quick search on msextra shows at least one person running full sequential with a 4/2 CAS
Megasquirt MSEXTRA and MS3EFI • View topic - MS2/Extra Alpha 3.0.3 20090507 (was 20090426) can't find anything so far that says it won't work.... Any links? |
I thought it was supported as well.
|
Replying to myself again, but I've done quite a bit of searching today and can't find anything that says sequential doesn't work with a 4/2 CAS.
I can find lots that says it does tho... |

Cheers for clearing it up Matt :)
|
Wow, great news then. I would urge everyone to upgrade, its really well worth it.
