Do I need an Ignitor for full Standalone MS?
Hi Guys
I am still in the process of putting in my MS, as I only get to work on it when I am down at the inlaws house (couple of hours by plane) Anyways, in this thread here I put up a pic of my full standalone diagram. "Full", as in I have completely re-wired an old 1979 323 with a MX5 engine. Where I am currently getting confused is this. Everyone refers to burning ignitors, from what I know this here is an ignitor. http://s541.photobucket.com/albums/g...DSC05717-1.jpghttp://i541.photobucket.com/albums/g...DSC05717-1.jpgSo do people mean ignitors or coils, or both? In the above thread I have wired this ignitor into the MS circuit. Do I need this? or will MS be replacing this part of the engine? Cheers |
MS has nothing to do with the ignitor for your coils. If you are using stock 1.6 coils, you still need that.

well...you could run a pair of Bosch BIP373 coil drivers and rewire the coilpack...

COPs

if you're going to use the miata coilpack, they need an ignitor to work.
