Does my VVT works at all ?

Hi guys

I will do proper introduction later on but for now, here is the link with my car details

https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthrea...hlight=vvt+itb

in short...1990 NA with vvt swap, plus itb plus cams on MS3 mini.

So i did some driving with vvt disconnected and i couldn't notice any difference... i did some logging and i have some questions.
Could somebody explain me why does vvt angle always stays at 13....it never moves?

Car was mapped on a rolling road so i didn't want to play with a map a lot.

if necessary i can upload full map and log

thnx

Using the test mode on the VVT page, you can set the VVT duty manually. You should see movement of the VVT angle then.

How did you tune your VVT settings? Because the process describe above is also how you determine your min and max angles.

I didn't do anything there ...car was mapped and tuner did all the work .
I didn't want to play with anything before asking here for advice

On your VVT settings page you have load Y axis in TPS. On your VVT table it shows the Y axis as load. I would think it would show up as TPS and maybe that's why it's not working? At least looking at the data it appears it's not working.

I and a few others have found if the cam minimum (abs angle) if out of range it will not command the cam angle. Try reducing the angle until the cam reacts. I run at 270 I think. Simple process. set manual VVT duty as SKamba noted. make it large like 50% to 75%. With the car idling reduce the minimum angle until the cam reacts. You will know because it will kill the motor. Add a few degrees to make it reliable. While in that mode you can also figure out the minimum and maximum duty cycle. 0 and 100 plus the vvt table numbers suggest vvt was not set up correctly and likely not working when the car was tuned.
