Drift and rev limiter Q's
Going to a drift event this weekend (1st one with the miata). what should I set the limiter in MS on. Its prob going to hit it quite a few times. What limiter should I use, fuel or spark cut?
Safety is the key...150K on motor 13spi thanks :) |
cut both since you can. in the least cut fuel. maybe lower the soft limiter.
|
What's your powerband like? Set it 500-1000 rpm above peak power.
|
Don't use just fuel cut it will make the car buck like a woah. Cut fuel and spark like Scott said it is smoother, if you don't have a cat you can try just spark, test it before the event to make sure its setup right though. Test it at 5k rpm though just to see how well it works and if you're retarding enough timing. If you do it right you can supposedly make it backfire when you hit the limiter using spark cut.

backfire and blow flames and smoke and death....

I would have it cut at stock rpm redline..
|
does anyone have that 'list' with limits for the engine and at what rpm valve float would occur?
for an NA car on MS, how would a 7100 soft limiter at 3 secs and a hard limiter at 7300 cutting spark only act? (gutted cat) |
Drift=GAY, but I'll be there to watch.

I got to tell you that I totally agree! I do not recognize it as a sport or even a talent but man ever spin a car around in a parking lots doing donuts? Think of it that you can do that all day and people are good with it!
